My new ADA 45P

    My new ADA 45P







    Got this tank planted over the weekend with some help from Kevin.
    Here is a list of items purchased for the tank.
    Lighting: 36Watt 8,000k CF fixture from Aqua Forest Aquarium in San Francisco. Fits the 45P very well.
    Substrate: Power sand special and Amazonia from ADG
    Filter: Eheim 2211 using spray bar. Nice water movement in the 45P
    C02: Pressurized from a splitter off of the manifold to my 29 gallon.
    Stand: Aqua Zoo made to order.

    Plants:
    Please bear with my spelling and id on some*.
    Echinodorus Agustafolius Vesuvias
    Anubia Nana Petite
    Echinodorus Tenellus
    Marsilea Hirsuta
    Ludwigia Bervines *
    Ludwigia Pilosa *
    Java Fern Staghorn
    Stauragyne Porto Velho
    Rotala Macrandra*
    Began water changes yesterday as ammonia is already high with the aqua soil.
    Hope to have it well cycled in a month a ready for fish.

        yeah, the stems I had brought were a little shorter than I would have liked but it will fill in nicely, and probably quicker than would be expected. The light Glen used was nice. it is a custom fixture from where he bought it and is very easy on the tank as you can see. I like how it is not very destracting. If they have one for the 60p I might get one.

            That Marsilea carpet will look nice. Are planning to grow the Porto Velho into a bush?

              I like small fish so will probably go with a group of small Tetras or Rasboras along with a couple Black line or Red neon gobies and either Panda or Pygmy corys.
              The Porto Velho I plan to keep trimmed very short and have just enough to be barely sticking out from above the rocks.

                    The bulb in the light is an ADA bulb and I have not had it long to see how it effects plant growth, but it has a nice bright white light and if ADA uses it I would assume it will groiw plants quite well. Not sure if it is the bulb or the ADA tank glass, but the tank looks really clear and bright to me. Plants driftwood and rocks look natural colors. It is 8000k not 8k.

                      Most likely both.

                      I don't think the 8k bulb will make the plants grow any faster but it should make them look better. Nice clean white light.

                        Plants can grow faster if the light helps them to metabolize more efficiently as long as the other aspects like substrate and Co2 are provided.
