My new ADA 45P

i have been thinking about setting up another mid tech planted shrimp tank, and if i do i will likely get an ada 45p or 60p.

Plants can grow faster if the light helps them to metabolize more efficiently as long as the other aspects like substrate and Co2 are provided.

Well, I thought that 6,7k vs. 8k would not effect plant growth noticeably.

But from what Luis posted, I'm assuming that the lumens from the 8000k is that higher than the 6,700k to a degree that it will effect the plants metabolism and growth rate.

im curious on that to, cause i thought they were about the same except for color rendering and overall bulb color/sprectrum.

Color temp and lumens are not as important as CRI, color rendition index, and PAR, photosynthetically available radiation. Here's an old APC thread that may help...

It has been two weeks now and here is an update. Ammonia .5ppm Nitrite .5 ppm Nitrate 5.0 ppm
I got some algae on the glass and the old leaves of the anubias and marsilea, but new leaves are fine. Also a bit on the stones. Been adding 30ml of H202 twice a day and it is getting rid of it. The Ludwigia Pilosa and other stems are growing quite well. The Marsilea is filling in with new growth.
I did 1/3 water changes twice a day for the first fourteen days, removed the carbon from filter then and now doing once a day now.
I use dry ferts and doing EI dosing. Hope to be ready for fish in 2-3 weeks. I tried about 4 red shrimp yesterday and found a dead one today so doubt if will add anymore for awhile

Ruby Tetras



Pelosie

Added a few fish yesterday. 7 Ruby Tetras about 1/2" long. Also been trying to keep the stem plants in the back trimmed, but they are getting very thick. The Pelosie in the third pic is growing quite well and added a few shrimp. Will probably be adding more of the Ruby tetras and probably some pygmy cories in a week or so if all goes well.

Got the rest of my fish this week and thought I'd give an update. Now have, 19 Ruby Tetras, 5 Pygmy Corys, 3 Blackline Gobies and a lot of Red shrimp. Also have two small Panda Corys that I got before I found the Pygmy Corys, but will remove them soon if I can catch them. The Ruby Tetras are coloring up nicely and the plants are growing well, but need to do a heavy trim soon as I'm losing sight of the driftwood on the left. It does give the tetras security though until they get used to the surroundings.
