Mistahoo that is a gorgeous fish. Makes me want another betta, and another nano! Have a feeling our house is going to be littered with small tanks. Although we are talking about a congo puffer....

Yeah.. lol expensive too. I had a sapphire and snow white marbled one, but it disappeared when I went on vacation.

Very nice.. My daughter has been asking if she could have a betta, but I don't know if she knows how to care for it enough yet, so I promised her she can have one when we move into the house and I can properly setup a good home for it..

good move... lol you'll probably still have to do the water changes on it but it will atelast only be a small amount of water... and just make sure she doesn't overfeed... my friend's kids killed their betta that way haha

Sorry to thread jack as I didnt want to start a new thread for such a simple and possible dumb question; will a Betta fish get along with other fish? I currently have him in a ~3 g tank in my sons room. Its on a shelf next to the bottom bunk bed, it is a pain in the *** to service it. I am wanting to take it down but have no where to put the tank. I was debating on throwing him in my 20L planted tank, currently has a other fish but all small fish and a few shrimp.

Honestly depends on your betta's personality as odd as it sounds. Each one is different some are way meaner than others. Just know they are natural predators and will eat things that they can catch lol they are a slow swimmers. Also I wouldn't put a betta in a tank that has high amount of flow.

<<< tried to put a betta in a community tank. Wouldn't do that again. Mean little rascal. As slow as they can be, they will attack your other fish anytime they can get close to.

We have a betta in a community with Harlequin rasbora, bristlenose, SAE, Otos, and adult yellow shrimp. We know he is likely stealing the shrimplets, but otherwise he is too slow to mess with anything else. With slower fish they can pick on them, but with anything even mildly aggressive they will get shredded.

Well we got home from dinner and one yellow shrimp is MIA. Valentino is a shrimp killin SOB. When he was in my nano while his tank was getting finished, he did a number on my cherry shrimp I'm just now seeing the extent of his killing spree. Lost around 10 I think :/
