Several months back she tried to talk me into a white betta at fish gallery with an $80 price tag. Looks just like the one we got at petco....for $7.50. He's got 2 yellow shrimp in there with him (if he doesn't kill/eat them). Not sure if the LED that came with it will be strong enough for plant growth. I guess only time will tell.

We had a Corgi. We he was a puppy one of our 1st trips was to pet's mart. Turned a corner and a big mastiff was standing there our puppy ran up to him and i figured he was a instant snack. The mastiff laid down and our Corgi jumped all over him playing. To this days it's one of the coolest things i've seen with our animals.
yeah she is great. the breed is big, but very laid back and gentle when it comes to puppies or kids crawling all over her. never a growl or complaint. if she doesnt want them doing it, she just walks away.

i tend to see white bettas at petsmart and petco as well. black not so much. there usually arent many, but you do get lucky sometimes

yeah $80 for a betta is unbelieveable haha. may or may not kill the shrimp, depends on cover and how well fed he the betta is overall. if he is already chasing them, might want to jsut be safe and remove them. hit or miss with the plants i guess. if they dont work, get a stronger light

Well I figured they'd do better with him then the pea puffers. Don't want to mix them with my cherry shrimp. Besides, its only 2 as a trial basis.

he was living the sweet life..."lobster dinners" every single night.

good call on not mixing the two species though. i liked the yellow and blueberry shrimp on the website, but cherry are just easier to start. will probably dabble into a few different ones eventually...and yes putt hem with pea puffers and they will be gone pretty quick

I dropped in some petsmart ghost shrimp in with my pea puffers, they haven't touched them. Weird. And I added three larger amano shrimp who can hold their own, but I have a theory that if I drop in a cherry shrimp, they will rip it to shreds as its the same color as the blood worms they love so much.

Ours left the adults alone, but would eat the shrimplets. In a 7.9 gallon they kept up with depredation from the pair of puffers and we believe only one would eat them. They had very different personalities and one would eat bloodworms and the other refused (thus the belief it ate shrimplets)

i guess if they are big enough that makes sense. usually whatever fish can fit in their mouths, so shrimplets are always more at odds

$80 isn't unbelievable. I don't know what they had for $80, but probably wasn't worth that much. It's just that everyone is so used to the failures from breeding projects (the ones that almost every LFS gets and the big box stores) that they seem to think that they are nice. I've seen some incredible bettas with amazing color, pattern, finnage, etc. going for over $150 easily. There's even betta shows where you bring in your betta and judges grade your betta. I'm not that crazy about bettas. I like HMPK, but I wouldn't pay over $40 for one. I have a Super Black Halfmoon Plakat. Real black (not the fake blacks) with a blue trim through it. If you google super black HMPK you should get an idea of what it is.

yeah those look really nice. i am not big into bettas seeing only the pet store variety. never been to any shows or seen really nice bettas. so i guess thats why $80 is unbelieveable to me.
