On the bright side I really like the way you've stocked it in this latest version. From the video it looks like it has good balance. Are there any fish that would be predominantly top water dwellers that would work in that tank? I can't think of any--hatchets too small, arowanas too big and piscivorous, African butterflies too delicate. Any bristlenose or similar going in once the tank matures--or do the bottom dwelling geophagus preclude that?

I hope the majority of your tank's growing pains are behind you now, and you get many enjoyable, fret free hours sitting on the couch and gazing into your creation.

Thanks!! Yeah, she's at Truong's but I swapped her out for a new female. We'll see what her personality ends up being like. Hopefully I can get 2 pairs total out of the 5.

Actually the vals did better than I thought. They were very easy to plant in the sand. The geos would literally yank em out from the base. In the areas where they couldn't reach the base of the vals, they actually stayed planted!

Boyant val and sand substrate dont go well together even if you weight it down. Damn fish messing up a nice scape.

I don't mind fake plants as long as they aren't hot pink or un natural looking.

I found a brand called "Vibran-sea" on amazon.com that I think I might order for the back wall. The geos just keep pulling out the val. They make like 18" tall plants, silk. We'll see how they look.

Well, at least the water is less brown after a tiny lil water change I did yesterday. Slowly gonna dilute out the copper and ich attack, then add the Purigen back in.

Nice... Not acting to aggressive...

Nah. They do fine with at least 5 of 'em and some dither to distract them from each other. When I had 3 (what I think were 2 males and a female) in there by themselves and no dither, they nearly murdered each other, gashes and stuff. But I like watching 'em play when there's a lot cuz I'm not worried they're actually gonna harm each other. The silver dollars are the **perfect** dither for 'em too, and they school really nicely.
