ok then I would not do a planted tank because a tank this size would require a small nuclear reactor for lighting it properly.

    I would go with beavers.

Beavers are aggressive, not human friendly. I also think they are poisonous. Or was that a Platypus??

      I would go with Penguins.

I almost said penguins too, but the chiller bill was too high.

I actually thought beavers were good, but I guess they have a dark side.

So I am going to put a little spin on that line right there.
            Okie 24" off the floor + 54" of glass = 78"
Typical house 96" ceilings leaving you 18" of clearance over the tank.
Now remember since the tank is as large as it is, that is not a lot of room for one to do maintenance.
Tim (armthehomeless) how much space is over your 215 ?

I am again to going to say the following. FILTRATION. Where is it going to be ? Real filtration for this tank is going to need about 24" plus more height above for pipes etc.. If you all come up with.. how about a bunch of Eheim 2217, then I am going to say.. have you ever had a REALLY large tank to deal with ?

Filtration is simple.. think 5ft 115g tank setup as a wet/dry. It alone is 24" tall.. now lets work on it and raise the tank even higher.. (again your thinking is not bright here) Think of the weight of the support structure underneath it. There is only one REAL way to have this big of a tank. On The Floor, spread the weight out over a large surface...

Now that I have everyone thought patterns in line.. now come up with an idea that will work where the tank is not on the floor and entertain me with comments.. until then I am going with Wet/dry on the side. Number of Eheim 2262 to make this work = 8-10.. before you come up with WHY this many Jesper.. Head height at 54+24 = 78" With a max at around 120" You are looking at a performance that would be rated around the 350gph not 900gph. Again something that has to be put into consideration.

With a large wet/dry system you can put pumps in that far exceed that of the eheim 1262 in head height and capacity. You will need it.

            What fish do Jesper have
180 WC T. Moorii Chilambo +1 Petro trewavasae.
            110
Cyps, WC Xeno Spilopterus Kipili WC/F1/F2 T. sp red Kiku
            58 S. Decorus

I lean more towards the ridiculous....but its my husband little project, I keep telling him to cut the glass down , an make a few 3-400 gal tanks instead...but he is hell bent on this 1275. So when he gets more to it going, I will get pictures, an if he really does build this monster, an it holds water.....we will figure everything out from there. He has the stand blue prints...its about 16 inches off the ground, an why he is saying 16...have no clue...but he is "THE MAN".....*cough, cough* so....we will see....

                +1,001.

You're going to need to put some major filtration on this tank, no matter if it's 400g or 1275g. And to do that, you really need space enough below it to put either a wet dry or a few big eheims (or other canisters). And to be able to service this filtration, you need a bit of extra room.

My suggestion is to beg the hubby to see the light, and edit the blueprints to include more space underneath. :)

Ideally, you need about 30 inches of clearance under the stand.
This is a sufficient amount of space to work with for filtration, bulkheads, plumbing, power, drains for the tank.
My 10ft tank is 43" high and you have to get inside the tank to get anything in or out of the tank. This isn't good for your water.

Yeah hate to rain on the parade but your best bet would be trimming the height down and spread it out. The 54" is going to kill you in different ways.

Any updates is it done? What is going to be the stock? Now with my 36" deep tank I can for sure tell you it sucks. Even with my whole chest laying on top of the tank I cant reach the bottom.
