If I was to spend that much money, and dedicate that much time into making it work, I defiantly would be doing something rare, instead of your typical LFS stock.

GL, and please keep us updated as this project goes.

IF the the tank is going to be inside then again I would recommend strongly that you simply put the tank on the ground. No need to build a stand for it. At 54" tall it would be perfectly fine sitting on the ground. Again filtration is what I would be looking at the most right now..

        Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

Only problem with being on the ground is even at 54" a good viewing would need the top of the tank to at least be at the top of the average persons head which would put it the top at 68-72" which means you have to lift it 1ft. IMO

i would say bring it off the ground a little justenough to get filtration like 1.5-2 ft and then with regard to livestock y dont u start a poll.

I would want a stand to
                      1) Hide equipment under it.
                      2) Get the tank off the ground to give you the head pressure to siphon stuffs off the bottom.

for stand ... You can always stack a good amount of CMUs ... maybe 2-3 layers, that should give you 16"-24" lift off the ground ... and it should be strong enough to support the weight.

In that case buy a $2,000 300g aquarium from Glasscages.com and save yourself a few thousand.
