Just remember that it takes about 4-6 days for the Chlorine to degrade from the ammonia compound that makes up Chloramine. Â This is why its being added into the tanks by the city so that it can sit for a day or two in the storage tanks before used. Â It will slowly break down, and you end up with water that has ammonia in it. Â Some people have in the past posted that their water contains ammonia in it when coming from the tap, this is the "by-product" of Chloramine, ie the water has been in storage longer than the average 1-2 days. Â Some people report that larger amounts of Chlorine is noticed after a rain storm, this is also caused by people not watering their lawns after a rain storm and the Chlorine amount collects in the tanks at a higher volume. Â Then there is the factor that the water treatment plants adds more into their tanks after a rain fall too.
This is what I have been reading lately about water. Â Both Prime and Amquel have chemicals in them that bonds with Chlorine and Ammonia. Â This will remove all three products Clorine, Ammonia and Chloramine.
