Mbu Puffer Curse...

I swear I have the worst luck with Mbu's, alot of you know I lost my 14" Mbu after having em about a year. Right after he died I bought one from a fellow member and I just found em stuffed inside the end of my water changer tube. I have no idea how long he was in there but he was jammed pretty good, I had to turn the water on to flush em out. He was lifeless for a good few minutes and when I went to get a net to fish em out he started flapping away to my suprise. He's laying on his belly now breathing fairly rapidly but it almost seems like he can't lift his self from the sand. I hope he didn't break his back or anything. Any suggestions?? Thanks

strange how he swam up in there how large was your mbu and the intake? The flow shouldn't have been that strong?

there was no flow if im correct it was his water changer tube and puffers are curious so he was probley just exploring something new and got stuck

Thanks fellas, I turned the lights out to the tank and he's swimming around now. He seems a little awkward but looks like he might be okay.

Chris our fahaka did this three times, we ended up having to put panty hose on the end.

This is common behavior, ours usually had a circular scratch on his side which would completly heal and face after 6-9 weeks.
He always survived and even puffed up the second time to try to avoid it all together.
He just took about three hours to get his **** together afterwards, for obvious reasons.
I would add Epson salt and heat up his water a couple degrees.and keep an eye on him

I think he tried to puff up as well but he had no where to go...lol I added salt and my tanks stay fairly warm but I really appreciate it. Especially now that I know I'm not the only one this has happened too. I normally keep it pretty low to the sand but didn't think about it this time, luckily he was okay. I really didn't want to explain to the kids that "Astro" died....

I think it happened to my mbu when it was really small too..
It should be ok large species puffer like mbu and fahaka are some of the most hardy things...but just becareful next time..

My dp's attack my hose all the time. Luckily they're all still in the tank.
