I run my city water through two filters before it goes into my tank.. one activated carbon filter and one that is supposed to remove sediments and metals... seems to work good, my fish actually like to sit in the stream coming from the hose... they take turns.
Dont give up, you can always get new fish that will make you happy again

Thanks so much. I'm still a little shell shocked. I have 5 silver dollars, 6 sterbai corys, and 2 L-144 plecos that survived...so far. They look so skittish in there. Can barely go into the living room myself at this point!

purigen should be fine since it can handle being soaked in clorox. so sorry to hear about the loss, it does happen to the best of us sometimes. a couple months ago i lost 10 angels that were big and seemingly healthy - overnight. now i have discus! let this be a stepping stone, a new beginning for you. now you have a new tank to restock. i still have lots of geo fry if you would like...
