Furan can treat a wide range of gram positive and negative bacterias. I was assuming the underlying cause was bacteria like Traci said thats generally the source of these types of infections. You can give what she suggested a shot to see but Furan always worked for me with many different issues. (Cover your eyes Traci) You may have to weigh the cost benefit of spending money on treatments and getting a replacement fish. That fish isnt that expensive but I guarantee you will spend more on treatments quickly
I agree. 2 out of the 7 I have bought from them have died and now this one is sick. Not a very good ratio. The 12 I have bought from Petsmart, still kicking,no problems.
I have two cichlids in my brichardi tank that I have had in there since my first HAS auction... so at LEAST 2 years... Suddenly I see what looks like patches of fuzz on them... then I had two daffodils who suddenly bloat up , get pop-eye and rolled over. Soooo first I tried a weeks worth of melafix... then pima fix.. then binox... then methyl blue... now I am on some fungus thing that starts with M... So I have NEVER had something I couldn't cure with the first 4....
I wish you luck

I have had success with Furan-2 and was recently told about Furanase. I ordered some and havent tried it yet but was told it does a great job on issues like you have mentioned or eye cloud
Update:
The fish survived, but he has no eyes. The fungus ate his eyes out. He seems okay, smells for food and hides most of the time. I plan on leaving him in the gold fish tank where he is safe.
There are a couple of us who have blind fish, and they do fine. I use Cichlid Excel soaked in tank water and then smush them a little so they'll sink and that's what they eat. Glad to hear he survived!
