Re: 125 Gallon Tank With Sump Setup

Just noticed my second post in this thread was edited! Idon't remember doing that.

          Anyway

Got bored so I decided to add some ammonia tonight. Even though bio media is not in place. Actually I have a small patch of white fungus growing on an upper portion of my driftwood, so I pondered on how to get rid of it. I was planning on starting to tank on 1 cup of ammonia so I figured why not pour it directly on the spot and see if the takes care of it. Actually I poured it about 1" to 2" away from it and let the water flow carry it over. Then I waited about two hours and tested the ammonia. WOAH It was off scale 8+ppm. All the articles I read on fishless cycling suggested to bring it up to 5ppm (approx 1cup) and then add half that amount daily until fish are added. I thought for sure I remembered them thalking about a 100g tank. I have 125 + approx 25. Well I am not worried about hurting anything other than I don't know where to guess at my half daily dose. I think I will test after a couple of days and see what has happened.

Oh I moved the driftwood since I updated the site. I will update site tomorrow and see which way yall like it.

Added the biomedia and some plants today. Also put the heater in the tank and set it to about 86degF. Dosed with 75ml Flourish Excel.

Updated the website pictures and added a new log page. I don't really have the time needed for the documentation so I must apologize for the gaps.

Thank you! I am going to try to take more picture and do a better job documenting everything in the log. I am going to try to change the format to utilize thumbnails. I am sure the first page is getting rough on people with dial-up.

Re: 125 Gallon Tank With Sump Setup

I picked up a drum and heater yesterday, Thanks Walter

Scrubbed it and washed it well.

I filled it last night added the heater (set about 85) and two air lines from a pump. Treated with one cap full of Prime.

Today it's very cloudy(white). I can see only about 1.5' into it.

The water did not do this either time I filled the tank.

                  Any thoughts or suggestions.

                  Thanks in advance.

That is an awesome piece of wood. Is it resin or is it real?

Have you decided what you are going to put in the tank yet? I know you have been vacilating back and forth. Let me make a suggestion, AFRICANS!!!!! hehehe. And I know just the place to get a nice selection too! Leave them discus to someone else, join the African club and see what agressive fish have to offer, hehe.

LOL!! It is going to be a Discus tank. As soon as I get this one up and running and my wife gets over the stick price I am going to look for a 4ft long tank to add to the kitchen. I will have to come look at those Africans and see what I think.
