So you guys aren't worried about spiking the Nitrogen cycle or the Beneficial bacteria? That could reek havoc on a tank with such large water changes....

Big water changes are fine when you have baby tanks.

          You need more filters.

But those filters are what's getting shocked by the new water...

On a 800g tank.. I would be doing 600g water changes via a carbon snake from John's house.. then you dont have to worry about adding stress coat etc.. and your fish will start spawning right there and then. I have seen it so many times.... ssrprelude just did a massive water change on this tank.. and his fish that had not spawned for him in a while.. females are holding :) Something about not adding chemicals to a tank that just works..

LOL Mike.. I know doing 600 out of your tank would take some time to fill back up.. you got a wet/dry on that thing yet ?

devils advocate...... those who have tried know that it works (including you) most of the bacterias in the filter and substrate not the water ...but i dont have to tell you that....

ssrprelude -- isnt it nice that when you do huge water changes that they get the point and reward you with the best gift they can :)
