Lol, yup. I have 16 caves in there for 14 fish. So each have a place to retreat to if they so wish. It has been reported that only males will take to caves and defend it. But sometimes females will use the caves just to get away from possible aggression.

Breeding is a high priority for me with these fish. I have been holding off on getting them for years now and felt it was time.

    The latest update:

It appears construction on the belo monte dam has started. The construction companies have all the licenses in place. Which means xingu's "big bend" will dry out and the zebra pleco will be extinct in the wild. :(

Only way these fish are going to live on is in our fish tanks.

You got an idea on ratio yet?
Nahhhh, they in my 75g at my house. Elos sitting empty at my apartment. My plan is to set up the elos when I move back home and move the plecos.

None of them have ever bred (that I know of) so can't say for sure which are males or females. From looking at all the clues....ratio appears to be 5m/9f. Those 5 males also hide in caves so I'm decently sure of ratio.

Thanks miggy. I had been trying to move those BR tropheus for a while to make room for these plecos.

What do you mean where are the suriyu stones? All I have in the tank are suriyus. I'm only using around 175 pounds. I have maybe another 150 pounds. But those are all really big rocks.

Here is a cheapo phone pic I took of the new scape. I was debating between a natural scape vs. breeding scape and decided to go with a breeding friendly set up.
