Heater actually isn't plugged in. It will actually be removed when I get a new one for in my wetdry. The eheim intake might get moved later but it doesn't bother me. I'm actually hoping to save up and order a tank with a closed loop setup

Thats actaully what im doing, but in the tank. It's a tried and true method. Not saying that your not right but, I feel more comfortable doing it this way.

Don't mean to tell u how to acclimate but that floating technique isn't efficient. That ONLY does temperature acclimation. I would dump in bucket and add tank water a cup or two every five min. For about an hour.
