Well, we'd love to have you! I went last time knowing only 1 person and left knowing so many more. It was great! Everyone was so nice. Hope to see you there, but if not, I'll see you back on the box! :)

I understand the camera focus problem all too well. And then there's the fun of finally getting the shot all lined up and either the fish moves or another fish darts in front or my cats decides it's time for attention!

For some reason, the way the glass is with this nano, my camera that normally takes good pics for my other tanks can't seem to focus at all. I'll still try messing around with the settings. I'd love to get cardinal shrimp... the red ones with white claws... so *awesome*

Vicki are you and the hubby planning on coming to the GHAC xmas party??

Yes! They are doing lovely. I am about to lose one more but he had lost his dorsal fin in a fight and was looking poorly from the start. The 5 remaining ones are healthy and happy as clams. :)
The shrimplets are still in bright yellow egg form! My youngest yellow shrimp is now also berried but with only 3-4 eggs. I think it's her first batch!

Or are you just gonna pick what looks nice and go with it?
Thanks b. I will go with the scalding water method to start with. I feel like the manzanita I had must have grown in a contaminated area, as Vicki had suggested, because it took over 6 weeks to leach out whatever it did. I like manzanita because it has little if any tannins and doesn't usually turn water brown... though I have Purigen to help take care of that too, and substrate buffers to keep the water alkaline. Manzanita has been hard to find, so I might just go with whatever looks good and whatever I can find over the weekend. This weekend will be all tank-scaping since I can't be with my family this Thanksgiving! So I will be thankful for my fish that are still alive. Ha!

True. No sooner had I spoken about having backup tanks to make one happy, when my CO2 system from my nano got a leak and emptied the entire canister into the air. NICE. That canister would've lasted me another 8 months. To make matters even better, the GLA shipment of Water Plant canisters is stuck in Thailand and won't be here til December!! My chilis and microneons are not that happy but my plants seem to be holding their own with the Excel and Flourish I've given them.

So if you have FOUR tanks, you might have crises to deal with in all FOUR! When it rains, it pours!

Change that to a minimum of 4 and you'll be on the right track..

Hey b. Didn't get to work on the tank til today because I was out of town and then had to work an overnight shift, but I just now finished a tank overhaul! Since the remaining 6 white clouds survived during my trip home, I decided to be conservative and do a hot water rinse of the tank. I decided to forgo the chlorine because I wasn't aiming to kill a pathogen and because the fish are looking so well. I took out the white clouds into a Tupperware and drained the tank. I soaked the rocks and shells in scalding hot tap water and let them dry out. Then I washed all the circ pumps, tubing, heater, and filter housing in hot tap water. Then I filled and drained the tank with hot tap water several times and then rinsed out the substrate and tank in hot de-chlorinated tap water. The filter media was gently rinsed in warm de-chlorinated water. Then I added water and Prime and set everything back up with a vigorous air stone and a new tank dose of Stability, and it's been running for about an hour. Will add the white clouds back in after the tank settles for another hour or so.

Hopefully this does the trick. Will probably attempt wood again, hoping that double jeopardy rules apply to aquariums too!! )
