Okay, so here's Malawi Lake. Honestly, what's there to use as a biotope scape? Even those rocky backgrounds aren't true to the biotope.<br />

Sometimes I look at my "biotope" scape and I'm like "wow, just like in nature!" then I take a look a the real pictures and feel terrible about how far off I am.


Btw off topic-there was a kick *** show on African rift lakes and cichlids in the science channel just last night. Some amazing little feats of evolution also some great video of Malawi and tangy aka cichlids in the wild. My iPhone corrects that second lake to some nonsense but it's ok because I couldn't have done any better.

Thanks for the vote of confidence on my scapes. I usually look for other tanks for ideas and then work them into my tanks. I had seen the ADG style tanks long ago, but never thought I would want to use that style since I always had planted tanks, but it all seems to add up for me on my cichlid tank.

I pretty much came to the conclusion while sitting around yesterday, waiting on my husband to help me with the rocks. I really don't like having a tank that I cannot maintain 100% on my own which I cannot do with the stacked rocks like it is. I prefer to be able to tear it all apart and put it back together all by myself. Plus, I just happen to already have the wood that I need. I'm already using fake plants to break up the line of sight. So it's just a natural that the tank would migrate to the scape I have in mind.

Not sure if you guys will like it or not. It'll look kind of commercially. But I know I'll like it. And I'll be able to do it by myself which is something I'll really like.

It was great! I enjoyed watching the show except when they kept cutting back to the chimps. I kept saying to myself, "no, no, not the chimps. I wanna see the fish!"

Ah, hell, I won't get a great one. But i'm a good sport about it so it's okay. I just don't want POTM to end so if it means embarrassing myself by entering some of my photos, then I'm game.
