  • Building a colony with 7 fish

Getting only 7 wild caught fish in. 2 males and 5 females. I don't have room in my 125, so I'm planning on putting them in my 33 gallon. There's no talking me out of it, so right now I'm looking for some advice on how to possibly make it work. Lol.

    What Im looking to gain:
    1. What kind of rock placement should I use?
    2. Should I keep the fish alone in the 33 gallon or add other fish in with them to dither the aggression?
    3. Anything that I would benefit from, from someone who has experience.
    4. Should I sell of my Namansi Reefs or trade them for some fish that won't cross breed and throw the canary cheeks in my 125?

BTW these are Canary Cheeks so I obviously can't put them with my Namansi Reef, so right now this is my only option. I would rather waste $30 a piece and try to build the colony rather than not try at all.

    Thanks,
    Josiah

So the colony you're trying to build is canary cheeks? Why you sell your other canary just to get another group? Hahah

Id try and stack the rock up to the top so that there many caves and crevices to help with outa sight outa mind. Just a suggestion, Usually when you break the line of sight via decorations or rocks temperaments go down and males will establish territories. Not to sure on tropheus tho, but its worked on most the tangs iv ever kept !! Good luck in ur trials
5 gal baby hecqui grow out
          7 gal baby compressicps
          14 bio cube fry tank, multies-orange leleupi-telmatochromis
          4 tank rack- 30 cubes. Shellies, mulities-brevis-telmatochromis-caudopunctaus
          100 gal mixed community tank
          125 Tropheus black bembas

                          How I did it:

                          1) 5 fish
                          2) 75g
                          3) one rock
                          4) a clay pot with a hole cut out
                          5) 5-6" male moshi

Introduce and remove the male petro has needed to control aggression. Best of luck to you, it's way doable. There are a lot of easier ways. I have since bred a number of small groups of 2-4 fish, both petro and tropheus. However, these other options aren't open to you.
I ate my fish that died.
