Personally I went to Petco and found this algae sponges for like $2.99 and I use those to clean the glass with.
I saw Geoff (ie geoff_tropheus) keep his in a ziplock bag and I am doing the same thing with mine. This way they dont get in contact with anything else and I can keep them near my other "fish-gear" and I dont worry. Since I am the only one in my home that enjoy the fishes (ie take care of my own tanks) then I dont worry about someone else going into the tanks, and since I keep fish stuff separately, I am not worried about cross contamination. I am in no way a NEAT FREAK like Jeebus is.

Yep, it sucks! I do have the magna-float, but never found it to get the silicone in the corners very well? We do our WC's every weekend and like to have the tanks look clean.

I'm on to whatever the next thread is...............

I have a battery powered submersable pot scrubber that stays in the fish room.
When I run fish stuff through the dishwasher, I don't use detergents, I use bleach and vinegar.
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

I keep my fish stuff separate from everything else for the same reason. I have scrubbers, bowls, cups and measuring spoons all dedicated to the fish tanks. All my fish stuff occupies a set of shelves in the fish room closet. I also have a mag float in each tank.

i do the tank maintenance myself...that way if something happens there is no one to blame but myself.

                  Thank you...? LOL.

Hey Lawman, I hear what you're saying about the magna-float and the silicone joints. Those are probably the hardest to keep clean. Well, that and the back glass - both of which I gave up on a LONG time ago!

Just got home. No more fatalities!!!!!!! Strange, they do not appear to be stressed? Breathing is normal and color is good? Going to hold off on food tonight, but I think the rest will be okay? My next decision is whether or not to introduce them into my Labufu's coming tomorrow in the 180? I was planning on introducing both colony's at the same time? may re-think that, but don't have a quarantine tank large enough for Labufu's.

Will just see how they r doing and make the decision tomorrow when I see both colony's?

Lucky. I'm getting a 180 in the next day or so and I think I might go with the Lafubu also. Good luck with the new guys and be sure to post some pics.

If the lufubus comes from where I'm thinking you don't need to worry about quarentine them, but you can keep them in the 180 and then in a couple of weeks add the dubs to the tank.
Btw, sorry for the dubs Lawsman.

Sorry for the loss man but these things happen. We all have experiences like this that could have been avoided. Use it as a learning experience and ensure it doesn't happen again. Good luck with the purple rainbows and share some pics when you get the chance

                            Lawman,
Sorry you had such a shyte thing happen. Even tho I use the metal edged-scraper-thingy to clean my tanks, I learned a valuable lesson from your mistake and won't do it either.

OUCH! Sorry to hear that. +1 on floss. I use HOB, but I really like Odyssea cut to fit filter pads. They are easy to use, and can cleaned easily just by rinsing under the tap.
