With small fishes I feed NLS grow. Don't worry to much about them getting bloat from the NLS grow even when they get bigger.

I use to feed my bigger ones NLS grow during my power feeding program. They never got sick or anything and did fine. The program got old cause I had to hand feed them and couldn't use the auto feeder.

Feeding flakes is also a good way to make sure all gets something to eat. I notice a big increase in fry growth rate when I started feeding them ken's flake. The flakes would fly around everywhere and the little guys would get a chance to eat. More so when compared to feeding only NLS or Dainichi pellets anyhow.

Note, if you are going to start feeding them flakes (or anything new) do it slowly and increase over time. This will give them bloat if you rush it.
so a mix diet of nls and flakes should be ok huh?
u think hbh veggie flake should be ok? or kens better?
and why u stop Dainich?? any particular reason?

For sure a mix diet of pellets and flakes is fine.

I also think HBH veggie is fine. I know a lot of people in Europe and Oz that feed this stuff to their tropheus. Some in the states do as well. None have reported problems with the food. I personally have not feed this to my tropheus so I have no person experience.

Regarding Dainichi, I stop only because I couldn't get it cheap anymore. I actually think dainicini is a better pellet than NLS cause it expands less when wet. But both are good fish food for tropheus. I believe Pablo from NLS have done more fish studies with his product then the people from Dainichi have but this is only from internet publishing....
