    Try nori seaweed.

Also try feeding him some hair algae. If he takes it try mixing flakes and/or pellets in there.

He seems fine. Just too wild! Got to domesticate him.

Wait. So you advocate only WC fish, but don't like it when they act wild?

I have a bag of nori, I will definatly try it.
              He definatly wild!
He's been digging since I posted the pics, lol
I did a wc and messed up his area he dug up, so he been working tirelessly to clean it and fix it back the way he had it.
He is such an awesome fish!
I just want him to be happy.
So I got to get him eating.

Will it hurt if my trophs, being as small as they are, if they eat nori?
Just wondering, I have never fed them anything other than nls 1mm, so I don't want anything to happen to them.
If it's all good then I will feed it tommarrow.

They should be fine. I feed my some of my little ones nori.

I would start slow. Don't put to much nori in there. Or try to chip the nori close to the petro. Should still be all good.

If it's all good then I will feed it tommarrow.
Be watchful of how much you feed the little ones while trying to get this male to eat. I'm sure they are going to take to the foods you are trying to feed him before he even knows it's food.

o wild caught petros....you have to love them but man you have to be a master to fish keeper AKA DELOCK,EK,FSHFRK,and a few other people on here...the most frustrating fish i have kept in my short aquaraium keeping..i have had zero luck with freshly imported petros .. i would prefer to buy them after they have been aclimated for several months..if you bought him from someone on here ask them what they had him eating. you might also try cichlid excel mini.. my current polyo eats that stuff like it is going out of style..but he wont eat the medium...go figure.. petros are truely my favorite fish but they take some work...anyway good luck mickey carroll
210 gallon tank...empty.....wait till you see what is coming

If John was feeding the 3mm NLS, I'd bet that this guy will eat it.

Good luck, and thanks for posting the pics! I love the ones with him spewing out sand... :)

i assure you, he didnt eat anything the entire time i hd him, i was becoming worried, i didnt want such a nice fish to die, i offered every food that he could possibly eat, includng shrimp mix, and he wouldnt even try it.

he started getting skinnier and skinnier, i dint want him to starve.

the oddest thing was is that he pooped normally, it wasnt stringy or anything, he pooped regularly, but would not eat.

and when he went after the troph, i kinda freaked.

i probably wont be trying petros again.
i just dont have any luck with them:|

i am glad he is doing well.

i ddint want to have to give him back, i love that fish, his personality and appearance in the shrot time i had him was an absolute joy:)
                        hes an awesome fish.

i guess im just not experienced enough to handle wc petros yet.

however, my trophs are kicking butt, i have a couple pushing 1.25" already.

i am looking into getting another colony for the other 75g.

i really appriciate you taking him back, i wasnt expecting to have to do that:(

I thought you wanted to keep a puffer in the other tank?

                            i have 3 tanks,lol

and in debating on a puffer, its a thought, its between a puffer or another colony of trophs, and im not doing either until

                            1) the money is available to finish the tank.
                            2) the tank is fully cycled and ready for fish
                            3) when i decide completly on which i want to do.
or 4) somehow miraculously come up with enough money to finish setting up my 2nd 75 in my room AND get a stand and the rest of the stuff needed to setup the 3rd 75g sitting in my bro's garage.
oh and the 4th one depends solely on my parents letting me have a 3rd tank in my room.

so yeah, im just gathering info on different fish i think i would enjoy and keep longer than a month or two

man fahakas are anything but ugly!
                                they are bad arse!

not to mention imo, one fahaka is like having the personality of a tank full of trophs (once settled in and comfortable of course)

on a side note my trophs are starting to color up nicely!
also, with the new 250watt mh the algae is growing fierce, and they are constantly grazing, its so awesome to see!

i sat their in front of my tank for over 3 hours

i need to get me a lazy boy black leather recliner
