Trying yo breed swordtails and maybe endlers guppies

Just trying to figure out the best way to set up a breeding tank and a fry tank should i separate them or nnot and just any helpful tips

Swordtails can be bad fry eaters. But they also don't do well in traps. I've gathered fry a couple of different ways. I have 10 gallon tanks stuffed full of java moss and other fine leaved plants with some swimming area for the adult fish. Some Swordtail females ignore the fry in these tanks. I've also got several adult females in a 20H with cloning crayfish. I collect a lot of fry from that tank - I think the females gorge on the baby crayfish and don't go after their young as much. Though they are albino and I never see albino fry. I've also used a trap the size of a 10g tank in a 10g tank and that works as well. but you have to watch the fish and not leave them in their very long. I've seen them colony bred in a 55g with java moss all over the bottom of the tank.

As for raising the fry, if you can do frequent water changes, start them out in a small - 1g tank so they can find food quickly and not have to chase it all over the tank. Then after a week or more, move them into a larger tank - 5 or 10 depending on how many you have.

The 20 H tank with the crayfish I've just left the fry in there as I have no room for them at the moment. They are now sexing out and quite large so you can raise them as a colony in the right circumstance.

As to which setup you try, it depends on what you want to do with the fry. Are you trying to raise them to sell, or show, or just have more than you currently have?

Was told theywould be a ez palace to start and i liked the fish so went with i. Currently i just have a some in my main tank ( was planning to move the female when she was ready to have the fry is that ok ) was told they would just naturally breed on there own but had them in there fo a couple months now and nothing so wanting to know what i can do to help them aling. Also can i put different types of swordtails together will they breed like that
