    HLA Money

    I'd like to explain my concept here and get some feedback from the mebers.

    If authorized, I will print certificates similar to a dollar bill.   These certificates will not be the same size as real money.  They will not be the same color as real money and they will clearly state tha they are NON NEGOTABLE.  These certiicates will be known as ATTABOYS or if anyone feels that the term is sexest we can call them WAYTOGOS.   The certificates will be awarded to members for outstanding service to the club (presenting programs, working at club sponsored events, etc.   At the end of the year (December Meeting) we will hold an auction of items donated to the club (Solicited from LFS and Manufacturers).   No Money will be accepted at that auction, only ATTABOY certificates.

    There are still a lot of details that need to be worked out so I would like your opinions.

    Who determins if attaboys are awarded ?
    How many attaboys for what activities ?
    Are board members elegable ?
    How do we get the prises for the Auction ?
    Can members combine their attaboys when bidding ?

    WAYTOGOS sounds more politically correct. Since we have about six members, if we eliminate board members not many members are going to be elgible. I guess the membership will increase. Board members should distribute WAYTOGOES according to some sort of schedule? I like big colorful money what do you all think of 4 1/4 x 11? The website address and at least the presidents email address should be on the money for contact information. Anyone making a donation should be entitled to some WAYTOGOS. Speakers should be entitled to WAYTOGOES. Buyers and sellers of high dollar fish should get WAYTOGOES and certificates or plaques. I want to print a lot of WAYTOGOES. Should WAYTOGOES include the logo? What is the unit cost to print a WAYTOGO? How are we going to pay for it?

      I think the going price for color copies is $ 0.15 / copy
      I'm not sure what the cost for a minimum run by print shop will cost.
      the preliminary size I used fits 6 to a page.  
      If you want them bigger you will have to settle for less per page.

      I don't mind running them off on my color printer but a set of color ink cartredges is $35 so I wouldn't wat to do hundreds of them.

      I think they shoud be distributed by a single person as that makes it a lot easier for accountability.

        So I will put $35 in the budget for ink cartridges and you are willing to eat the cost of a little paper? When we need 10 print 10. We can let the treasurer distribute the money if you like. Big and silly is more fun. It only cost a little more to go first class lol. Back to how many for what and all those other questions? I think one makes a statement. It would be good to make a lot of statements.

          Good morning,

          I like the concept of having these fish-bucks instead of the regular certificates because the youth especially in the club who don't have alot of money can participate in  a special auction.  Let's toss some names around on what to call them; for example at work we have GEM (Going Extra Mile) cards that are turned in for a special drawing twice a year.  We could come up with something simular and put a fish in the center of the bill.  If you do a trifold on a full sheet of paper it you can come with 3 bucks to a page that are about 4" x 8" which is a good size.  I can donate the paper if you want, do you want a special color?

          Who determins if attaboys are awarded ? President or treasure
          How many attaboys for what activities ? Speakers-2, donations-1, high buyers and sellers at auctions-1,
          Are board members elegable ?  I would say no for now.
          How do we get the prizes for the Auction ? Donations - some logo items.
          Can members combine their attaboys when bidding ? Yes, I also think they should be transferable to other members?

            I guess we could make business cards out of them and make them serve two purposes or not.

            We could reuse them next year.
