This is an opportunity to buy some rare bargain aquatic items including both fresh and salt water fish ( lots of cichlids! ), plants and supplies. Have fun supporting these clubs and make some new friends in the process. All items will be sold as is, the HLA will not be responsible for anything. The HLA will charge 25% commission on sales (this will be split 15% HLA and 10% for the club of your choice), collect/pay 8.25% taxes on all sales and let/make sellers select which participating Texas fish club gets the club commission (10%) for each item when they sign in. There will be a five dollar charge for bidder cards. Sellers will be charged $2/bag for rebagging leaking bags. Sellers and clubs will be paid two to four weeks in arrears to allow time to cash checks. The Galveston County 4-H Club will have the food and beverage concession. No food or beverages from outside will be allowed. This is a smoke free building and no alcoholic beverages will be permitted.

Of coarse, they will also have to pay whatever they bid on their items.

Sounds like fun, I've never been to a live auction before. Ebay doesn't count...

Ebay and aquabid are a lot of fun but they lack the opportunity for real social interaction. Auctions are parties.

I appreciate your support and enthusiasm but I think it would be good to get this one done first.

                  Howdy,

The HLA auction should be simular to the other fish auctions in the area and it will be a fund raiser for HLA with opportunities for other clubs to get in on the action.  These auctions are run by volunteers so don't be afriaid to step up to the plate and contact Max to be a volunteer.  I am sure he could find a job for anyone and that is willing to work and have a good time at the same time.

There is also an opportunity to reach out to the 4-H youth at this auction because they will handle the food and drink as their fund raiser.  Hope to have them as a captive audiance to rope them into the aquarium hobby. later, ken

We could probably use a few buyers in the audience as well LOL. If some of the other clubs participate we may end up with a lot of auction helpers.

Here are a couple of pictures of the place I took when we went to Kruckeberg's Eden. I am thinking of selling my Melanochromis auratus and perhaps some mollies, platys and swords. What are the rest of you bringing?
