It's fine to bag a plant like that for a short period of time, but don't leave it like that overnight or longer.

If you need to leave it bagged for longer, then remove the plant, drain all the water, and then put the plant back in while wet, but without any of the water. You want the plant to be wet so it doesn't dry out, but never leave it in stagnant water. Stagnant water rots plants.
