I think what he meant to say is not to drill your tank bottom, because it was already drilled with four holes along the bottom before it was filled with water. I wonder if the stand settled a little, causing to much stress on one spot. I would have put some styrofoam under the tank.

I think the tank was already drilled and it happened to crack there.

Well he pretty much says it all in his build thread as well as the thread in the BST section where he's trying to rehome his fish.

Again I wanna know why do you attempt to drill a tank that already has all the overflow you need, and such..

Cause having just the overflow sucks big time on such a large reef tank and sucks even worse that the overflow is only on one side.

With a good amount of rocks you would want more flow through them and having powerheads alone will not accomplish that especially if you want a clean look.

Just why I would attempt drilling if in fact it was not there to begin with.

if remember the bottom was already pre drill. plus if you are going to stack alot of rocks (which he didnt) i would have added a vortech or 2

If the tank was pre-drilled then that was what broke, he said something about the bulkheads.

I know he did not drain the whole tank just to drill it.

Ok I went back and re-read his post... he is just saying to others not to have your tank drilled on the bottom.

He did not attempt to drill the tank.

That size tank, you have to build a perfect stand for it and even. The garage concrete slab is made to be an incline so water dont flood into the house, i dont know if that was consider when building the stand.

even if that is true...unless he hard piped the tank with steel fitting the bulkhead would not have given. The seams around the bottem edge would have give
