I have F1 Moba fry @ 1" for sale in Houston, Texas.  I have 2 grades of fry from wc moba mommas.

10 F1 regular Moba fry - $40 each.  Volume discount for 10 is $35 each.

19 F1 Moba fry from my black moba momma - $50 each.  Volume discount for 10 or more is $45 each.  These fry are my highest quality......they have the richest blue coloration and dark, solid black stripes.

These fish are available for local pick-up only in Houston.  Sorry, no shipping :(

Here are some recent pics of the actual fry.  I grow them out in floating nurseries in my 180g tank.  They are eating .5mm NLS Thera A sinking pellets.

        Thanks.

I don't know much about these types of fish.  I want to know more, but it seems like on the cichlid forums everyone speaks a different language LOL

There are more acronyms and abbreviations than the phone company :)

Nope, same language, just new phrases or terms used in the hobby by the folks that deal in that stuff.

          No biggie Kris.... :)

Good Luck with the sale Ron

              Thanks.

What is the difference between moba's and seven stripes?

Mobas are from a different part of Lake Tanganyika.  Mobas have 6 stripes and have a blue coloring.  Seven stripe fronts are also known as Kigoma's.  They have 1 more stripe and their coloring is different...........alot less blue.

The face stripe on a Kig goes all the way from the top.........down the eye and to the bottom of the head.  A moba has more of a zorro type mask with the stripe ending slightly below the eyes.

                    Hope this helps@!!!!

Moba frontosa are freshwater fish.  I have a wild-caught colony of 7 mobas that I've had for almost 4 years now.  I have 3 females that are consistent breeders.  I have fry in 2 floating nurseries that are hitting 1" now.

I have a female holding eggs right now and I'll be stripping her egg-bound wigglers either this evening or tomorrow.  I'll place her wigglers in a tumbler until their egg sacs are absorbed and transfer them into a floating nursery.

I usually have a waiting list of 5-7 customers deep that will wait for these fish.  If you want to start your own colony, I would suggest starting out with 10 fry and growing them out.  Females mature at about 2 to 2.5 years and males at 3 years plus.

When you're ready, just let me know.

How large are they at maturity?  Can they live with other cichlids?  Lemon yellow, Red Zebras, Brichardis....

I have 2 males that are over 10".  Females range from 5" to 8".  I keep 3 bristlenose plecos with them.  I also have 5 F1 mobas (their babies) and they are over 2.5 years old.

I have my mobas in a 180g tank (6x2x2).  I had some south americans (nicaguarenses) with them and that worked out ok.  I ended up trading them out to gain more tank space for my mobas.

Mobas are pretty peaceful as cichlids go.  They tend to stay near the bottom and are diggers.

                            What size is your tank?

When it's all done I will have a 300 gallon (8x2x2.5) with a large capacity wet/dry and large capacity canister filter (something like an Eheim 2260 or so) connected to a reverse flow UGF.  I'm not sure what the wet/dry is rated for, but it's about 36" long and I already have a Mag 12 to give you an idea of the rate.  Might even add another mag pump.  I would also like to add a small plant refugium to remove the nitrogen from the water similar to a salt setup.  I'm trying to make this tank as maintenance free as possible.  I have a bunch of 1-3" cichlids in my 65 gal that I would like to move to the 300 once it's all set up and cycled, but I'm afraid that if I get some fronts they won't all get along.  I have heard that the fronts are extrememely non-aggressive toward other species and that many times the smaller fish will nip at the fronts long fins which are one of the main reasons that I like them so much.  Also have some synodontis and bn plecos.
