  • old tank and 2 scats for sale or trade...

I have a 55 gal, no longer suitable for fish but great for anything else that can live in a tank- has some scratches like a lizard may have lived in it before and it leaks in the very bottom where bottom glass and side wall meet.    can include a light but no filters or stand, sorry.
Will trade or  take cash.  make an offer.

Also, 2 large silver scats, currently in fresh water and ready to be converted to brackish.  The larger of the 2 is about 8 to 10 inches or so and the smaller one is about 6 to 8 inches in length.  They are some wicked fish....too cool and I hate to part with them  :(  but I have to for their well being.

    Thanks much.

do these have to live in brackish or could they sustain in fresh for lifetime?

They do better in brackish or even marine conditions.

They need to be moved into brackish water and are ready for the conversion.  They are in fresh water right now and this is why I have to get rid of them, I bought them in ignorance not knowing that they are brackish fish  one of the things the lfs guys don't tell you and I had the trust so didn't research until it was too late.

I need something long enough for a 120 so I guess 2 26" strips, prefferably double bulbed or one 62" double buld strip. Newer lights in reasonably good condition.   Don't really know much about lights other than "on", "off".

If know one wants the scats, I can get rid of the 15" Oscar, large pleco and over grown goldfish and convert the scats and tank they are in to a brack water.

UGH!!!  See my problem here folks??  I hate making choices like this....

Okay, so here's the dealie-oh, I can let go of the 2 scats for $75 bucks for the pair, or a cannister filter (good and clean) of comprable retail value.

                or

I can let go of one very large oscar- pic in south american forum, large pleco, big goldfish and just convert the 120 they are all in to brack and keep the scats....

Either way, some of these guys need to go someplace as the scats really need their brackish water to thrive.

also, if it  will get the dang 55 gal. tank out of my dining room, I will throw in the stand (NOT particle board) you can take the tank, stand, and old crappy light for $50 bucks.

will take pics and post 'em of all fish and tank.

Well my big old goldfish could use a mate. So how much for your big goldfish?

Oh by the way I can find new room for your next tank while I am there.

You could always trade the scats in to a LFS. Maybe Charles at the new Fish Ranch in Rosenberg may trade you, since he has a brand new store with available space. When he was at the old FR (now 800 Seahorse), there were BIG silver scats in the marine section.

$10 bucks or some fake plants (4) (medium to large size) will trade for good cave making rocks too (3-large to med sized)

or a snow jade or maybe one of those cool blue discus

That's a good idea but I'm afraid the person with the 3 day old tank would buy them and dump them on in....I'm very paranoid about these guys as they are 2 of my favorites and would hate for them to end up in the hands of a beginner.

You haven't met Charles Jones (Maurauder) yet! I'm sure he'll make sure they go to a good home!
I'd take them if they were smaller. I have a 20 gallon brackish tank.

the thought of these beasts in a 20 is almost comical....I think they could move....just not much....
I sent Maurauder a pm and he's gonna see what he can do but doesn't have anywhere for them as of right now....thats okay though, they'll be fine for a couple more months I think...

if  I trusted my handi-work I would just try to reseal my crap 55 gal and put them in there but I know  me and it would be best for me to not go near the silicone - I think the primary seal between the glass is giving out anyway...it's a pretty old tank  looks like it has had some silicone patch work done by the previous owners and I think they used to keep a cat in it.... 8O it has some fierce scratches and the guy I bought it from swore he never had lizards.

xtreme has some nice silver scats in right now but they sell them as totally fw (hense my predicament), about the size of half dollars (the coin, not a fish)  but in 6 months or so they would be too big for a 20....but they look nice!!
