My two were sync wireless, I could be wrong and it was all done magically, can only speak from my personal experience

about 3-4yrs back now and they were Mp40w They sync wireless cause I had two on opposing sides and there was no wire connecting the two.

From reading it I don't see much difference.

The old MP40w had multiple pre-set settings and there were like 2-3 user programmable settings.
