You have to keep in mind that with these big circulation pumps it doesn't necessarily need to be pointed at the sand or whatever dead spot. They draw in as much flow as they push out so with that in mind you could position it so that the water in it's vicinity is "circulated" out and moved around.
I think that's what a lot of people get wrong and try blast the tank with flow or get upset when a "circulation pump" doesn't push enough. It's there, just not blasting the fish against the wall.700g Mini-Monster tank

I use a K7 on my 125 right now and it will move the sand from one side to the other . To stop this , I lower the K7 to midways the tank and point it towards the surface . This breaks the force from hitting the opposite side glass and pushing the sand to one side .
