That filtration is way less than what's on my planted 30g, my other 30g has a ton more than that and it gets massive water changes twice a week and I don't even keep discus.700g Mini-Monster tank

If money is a problem, discus are not the way to go. they cost a lot to start with. And they are very temperamental. If you don't stay on top of your water changes you will stunt their growth, and ultimately kill them. Like everyone has said before, you get what you pay for. Go cheap and you will get cheap fish. Pay a little like now and get healthy fish you will be happy with in the future

Mr Baller,
After taking up to 1.5 years to reach adult size, most people have invested alot of time And energy to get a Discus to grow, And if all goes well get them to breed. So the cheap Discus that your looking for are not available from most hobbiest or stores. $25 to $30 gets you a,small Discus that you will spend 200 bucks in food And water And effort in getting them to grow And breed.
I myself would not sell them for ”cheap” due to thE effort And care needed to raise them. Good luck with your search.
And remember that heat is one of the top three or four items that must be addressed.
P.S. I thought ballers didnt care about the price of things......

Do more research before jumping into Discus. If getting quality stock to begin with is not possible for you, then I suggest waiting until you have the funds to do so. Discus are not hard to keep, but they require a lot of maintenance. Discus are not a type of fish to get lazy with. And as stated before, water changes are important for Discus, especially young ones. You should be doing a MINIMUM 90% daily water changes.. and you need to feed them as young Discus need a constant supply of food to grow. Along with water changes, you need to vacuum any feces/uneaten food to keep the water pristine as possible. As for someone stating you HAVE to use RO water, I disagree. RO water is more for breeding than it is for keeping them. Discus will adjust just fine to regular tap water. I will warn you, if you get into Discus, have metrodinazole, Prazipro, leviosole, potassium permanganate and Epsom salt handy(Just to name a few). Domestic strains are probably the worst when it comes to disease. Check out SimplyDiscus.com/forum. Read up on everything you can. Remember that if you start off with young Discus, you have to be committed because they stunt very easily. If you ever obtain the funds, get semi-adults or adult Discus. You don't have to worry about the risk of stunting them and you don't have to do water changes so frequently.
