For those of you who don't know I teach aquatic science at Morton Ranch High School in Katy. The program is new and as such we don't have much of a budget. Anyway, I am looking to get 1 or 2 larger tanks donated to have set up for me to keep as teacher tanks and class studies in breeding. I was wanting to get one for fresh and one for salt(doesn't need to be rr.) I am looking for anything in the 50-90 gallon range. Please only tanks that hold water, I currently don't have time to reseal anything because of baseball season.

I would love to help you on something like this. I live in the DFW area though. Have you done any looking on CL? Or posted a add on CL? I would be willing to donate a little cash and some Cichlids twards your project. Also might be able to help you find something for cheap on CL. Just LMK.Don't blame me, I voted Ron Paul !!!

I haven't posted an ad on CL but I do look on there and actually got a 200g donated but I couldn't get the budget to fix it and ended up trading it for some dead rock. The other aquatics teacher goes up to the metroplex a lot to visit family, so he could pick stuff up if you have any. I would definatley love to have one tank that is a breeder for cichlids and one for salt (either a reef or try breeding clowns). I think the kids would love watching the process of raising the fry once they are born.

Hi. I have a 55 gallon that you are welcome to. It holds water (needs to be cleaned up, though) but we don't have a light or tops for it though. I do have an almost new (used about 2 weeks) Emperor 400, heater, brand new air pump and holey rock that we would give you to go with it. (We may have some small lights....will look for them if you are interested!)
We also have blood red jewels and convicts that are breeding like crazy living with Africans that you are welcome to as well. Everyone gets along very well. I read that some members are willing to donate Africans so I think they would do fine together. Mine breed regularly so it would be really neat for the students to see the courtship, eggs and babies.
Let me know. We are by Hillcroft/Fondren and Braeswood. You would have to pick them up because I've been working a lot and my hubby is disabled. Just let us know so we could get everything ready.

Hi. I'm not sure I will be able to get everything together in time. They are working on on house and driveway and everything is torn up right now so it's hard to get to where it is stored. I have the tank, rocks, light (maybe), air pump and fish but I still need to look for the filter. If you are in a hurry, you can pick these up first, but would hate for you to make an extra trip for nothing.
Also, after next week, I will be in school at 610 and 45 at Gulfgate on Mondays and Wednesday until 8:30 PM if that's closer for you. Just let me know!

Thank you Amy, aka happytiffany!! The fish look amazing, and the kids and I can't wait for them to start breeding. I am trying to make this tank a natural looking tank, and I don't know what people use for natural freshwater bottoms. Like what kind of sand to put in there.
