How does this differ from distilled water and baking soda?

Re: KH Standard (for use in drop checkers)

      Hi,

Before I offered this KH Standard for sale I posted exact instructions on the planted tank forums on how to make your own standard using sodium bicarbonate and sodium carbonate.

There was and is a lot of misinformation on the forums as to the correct way to make a KH Standard but I think most of it is getting cleared up now.

This is a precise KH Standard made from a lab certified analytical standard which enables you to know the exact CO2 content of your water. You can have the peace of mind knowing without a doubt that you know the exact KH of the water in your drop checker.

This is a product for people who don't want to go to all of the trouble and expense of making their own KH Standard.

To make your own KH Standard right you need to buy a scale and glassware which would cost more than this KH Standard and you still wouldn't have the ability to be as precise as this KH Standard.

I have the scales and glassware to make good KH Standards using sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and sodium carbonate. All of the standards I made this way have been dumped out because I like knowing that my KH Standard is made from a lab certified analytical standard.

Look on the planted tank forums and you can find good instructions on how to make your own if you want to.
