Breeding colony....X 400+ sell/trade

I have a breeding colony...think thats a understatement....of cherry shrimp. Housed in a 40 gal breeder with a mess of java moss. There are at LEAST 300 in the tank...upwords of 400 if you count all the tiny ones, not just the breeders. I would like to sell them, or trade them. I have been venturing out with some other shrimp, an strains of guppies an plecos. I am also in need of some more plants. If any one is interested in buying or trading...feel free to post. These shrimp come from some very high powered lines..an have every tone of red from neon orange-maroon.I have offspring that do not even measure a 1/4 inch an are in full color...a lot of shrimp do not color up until they are about 1/2-3/4in...these are colored at 1/4. I paid a lot of money trying to keep the bloodlines going in good color, not to mention culling the crop at a regular basis. So what you would be getting is the cream of the crop. Over 3/4 of these are adults...either breeding, or prebreeding age. I have bought these guys from 22 different breeders foreign an domestic, so it is a very mixed bloodline. I don't mean to ramble...but these are great shrimp. The reason I am selling/trading them is I want to use thier tank for something else. And figured its easier to sell the whole lot, rather then in small peices. They are very social if shrimp can be so...during feeding times they know right where I put the food, an will attach themselfve to my hand if it is in the tank. I do not pamper these shrimp either. They are lucky to get a water change once a month...and get fed tetramin color flakes an a few hikari algae wafers...no high dollar high powered foods...just normal everyday fish foods. They are housed with some of my teenage plecos....so they are used to being pushed around too. PLEASE if anyone is interested...seriously all or part, post it. I am willing to ship, an have good styro, kordon breather bags, and cool packs. I will also build my own boxes to ship them in..so they can be shipped in FLAT RATE boxes to save some cash. If anyone does decide they want them, an want the whole lot..I will work out something as far as shipping being included as well. I have paypal, or you can pay however......any thoughts, questions?

Can you get a picture of the shrimp, from the maroon ones to the orange ones you mentioned?

take shrimp...place in tank with dechlorinated water, add airstone, java moss or naja grass, feed flake food an algae wafers 1-3 times daily. tank temp can range from 74-82...mine are in room temp...no heater, they just go with whatever temp house is at. Presto..enjoy an look for babies! Mine...like I said are VERY hardy, never spoiled...if they can survive me...they will live. They, like all shrimps, can be fragile. But I have had these guys shipped to me in temp as low as 40's, an as high as the 100's. The trick is LOTS of water, and ALOT of styro an insulating products(like newspaper). Anything else you would like to know?

A 5-20 gal tank with java moss, minimal light, & sponge filter are really all you need for a breeding setup- They key would be to avoid any fish that will pick off the babies. Otos are great tankmates.

RCS will survive at the bottom of my canister filter- they are very hardy.
I also have a some sitting in a glass bowl with anacharis, no filtration, next to a window and they have bred.

Lexington, TX...about an hours drive north of Austin. And there are no "fish forums" like this in my area, hence why I am involved in this one...not to mention that THIS PLACE ROCKS!!!!

Shipping is easy....flat rate boxes are your friend, an being your in Houston area....Priority is practically same day service if you do it right. I know when pick up is at my local PO...so I pack the boxes just an hour before pick up, then drop off, they go out almost immidiately, an arrive the next or same day in some cases. How many are you interested in.?..I see you list a colony already.

I am trying to work on getting picks, but once again, my photography skills suck, so as soon as I get a few pics I would be alright with posting, I will post them.

Okay, I wanted to be sure you aren't in Lexington, KY (thinking maybe you moved from Houston to there which is why someone so far away would be on a Houston board). No problem that you don't live in Houston; I hope it didn't come out that way!

I was thinking of trading with plants since you mentioned that in your original post. I have no need for more RCS, but thought I might try some in my larger tanks since some people have reported good luck with that. My other thought is if they're really red, I might move my current colony to my larger tanks and replace them with a nicer looking colony. I just thought it might be fun to let you pick out plants from my tank while I got some RCS from you.

Any chance you'll be coming to the Houston area anytime soon? My aversion to shipping isn't with you shipping RCS, but with me shipping plants. Boxing and shipping stuff isn't my favorite thing to do so I was thinking I could be lazy.

So I think this is the best I can get...I tried taking a few others, but just not working, can't get it to focus right, an they become blurred BAD. So you get to see some of my small(2in or less) plecos too. These are the ones I was saying were temp tank mates...til they sell or get moved.

Dunno....kinda trying to sell in small lots or one big one. I just sold a package of 25 shrimp, a bag of plants, an some food for $35 shipping included. Would be perfect size for a 10g....enough shrimps so you could find them all. People often do not get enough shrimp, then complaine when they put 10 in a 55 gal tank, an can't find them....lol...they are not a huge shrimp, but at least their color helps tattle-tale where they are...unless you have red gravel...lol. Sorry, rambling again. But ..ya how many you want...we can put together a package.

Come up with a price quote for the whole lot.....I think $300 the breeding colony of cherry shrimp, a large amount of plants they are breeding on(may still have eggs on plants) an shipping within the state is a fair price. What do ya'll think. If I can't get anymore ppl in here that want them, I will post it on AB.

No shrimp eggs. There are no snails in there tank, so the plants would also be snail free...kinda hard to find snail free plants too!
