Rama has the solution. You can get a smaller inverter at Fry's and just plug it into your car/truck cigarette lighter and run AC power cords from inverter to house. You don't need much power to run small air pumps. No fumes, none of that. Just start your car up every so often to let the cars alternator recharge your cars battery!

Heck, look on Ebay or Amazon, you can find small ones just to run your air pumps on the cheap!

My freakin boy friend has two gas powered inverters. i think one is rated for 2000 watts and the other one is 3400 watts. Oh and of course he has to has a regular 6,500 watt generator. i will say this, that 6,500 watt generator ran for 10 days before we had power restored and it was a blessing. Now, he wired the water well to a seperate circuit, so next power outage we will actually have well water. We will see if it actually works, looks shakey to me:-)

I have a 15kw generator that is on a power transfer switch. If the lights go out the genny comes on my clocks don't even blink. It was worth the price because it increase the value of my house by at least that much so it was like geting it for free.
