Just looks like your regular algae growth that you get on the sand bed most of the time, maybe BHA? Don't know what it is per say, but as long as it isn't bryopsis you'll probably be fine. It's a natural part of your tank cycling don't go overboard with trying to get rid of it or anything. Your using RODI water right?

Yes I've only used RODI water, I've also have a vortec mp40w pump running, so there is good water flow my 93 gallon cube. I am using also radion led light and I think that might be the reason why it's everywhere.Originally posted by Roshan8768 View PostJust looks like your regular algae growth that you get on the sand bed most of the time, maybe BHA? You're in the first months of a saltwater tank, you're going to see a dozen of different things grow in your tank. Just keep your light off for the first couple weeks while its all getting established. Was your rock and sand living when you got it or was it dry?

Is keeping the lights off a good idea? I heard about this and tried it during my cycle, and all it did was delay the onset of said nuisance algae cycles. To the OP, best you can do is turn down the intensity of your lights, and don't run more than 10 hrs a day for now, honestly looks pretty normal for a tank that's new. Mine is just starting to settle down and its been up for 2 years now.Originally posted by Andrew_B View PostYou're in the first months of a saltwater tank, you're going to see a dozen of different things grow in your tank. Also have a sump with a refugium section. I did add pods and chaeto that I bought from aquarium world into my refugium. I haven't been there yet but I do plan on going this weekend. Have you?Originally posted by Roshan8768 View PostThat's a good start man, your dry rock will be seeded with all kinds of life and covered in some nice coralline algae in no time. Have you been to Cinco Ranch Aquatics yet?

Great place man, check it out for sure! Hector, the guy who runs the place knows what he's doing. He's a hobbyist too, so he won't try to sell you stuff that you don't really need. Also decent selection and very reasonable pricing. I'm definitely buying any future fish through him. He can order whatever you want if he doesn't have it, and more importantly; he'll keep the fish in his system that's running medication for a couple of weeks before putting it up for sale. I've had way too many issues with fish bringing in diseases even if they look fine at the store.Originally posted by taikoboi View PostAlso have a sump with a refugium section. On another note I've got some great starter corals up for sale right now if you're interested, just check out my thread. Fairly indestructible stuff!

What do you think about running my flow through a sock in my sump? I have one and it's collecting a lot of debris since my tank has been running for a few weeks.Originally posted by Roshan8768 View PostThat's a good start man, your dry rock will be seeded with all kinds of life and covered in some nice coralline algae in no time. I'll definitely check it out this weekend. I'll also check out your thread. You don't think it's too early for coral?Originally posted by Roshan8768 View PostGreat place man, check it out for sure! Don't you already have a couple of fish? If so and they are doing fine, your tank can definitely handle soft coral. You have more than enough light! If you have filter socks I would rinse them out at least once a week. If you can see visible debris in the sock, it needs to be cleaned- so maybe twice a week until your tank breaks in/if you stir up a bunch of stuff. I know a lot of people just have two socks, and they throw on the new one, while they take the old one out and wash it real good. This also allows you to periodically (maybe twice a year) soak your socks in bleach to kill whatever is growing on them to keep them looking nice and newOriginally posted by taikoboi View PostI'll definitely check it out this weekend.
