Ok cool, just keep an eye on your fish, if you notice any split fins or bite marks you may need to remove one. It's generally recommended to only keep a pair (that's not related to tank size, even in a 200 gallon it's still recommended to only have a pair) that's not to say some people haven't had success keeping more. However, generally speaking, two of those fish will form a "pair" and start to become extremely aggressive toward the remaining fish. I would say especially so with maroon clowns as they are notorious for being absolute bung-holes ;-) if petco/petsmart told you it would be fine I would start ignoring their advice altogether, like I said before, most petco/petsmarts couldn't give a toss whether your fish live once they leave their store just as long as they make a sale. Once again though, I really must emphasize, research BEFORE you buy, and if you cannot be 100% sure...walk away. You may feel bad not being able to pick up that bargain, or not being able to get that beautiful fish...you'll feel a hundred times worse though when you know you're responsible for the death or injury to said beautiful fish.
My 3 have been together since i got them about 6 months ago. 2 have already seemed to pair but all 3 protect there little corner in the front left and try nipping at me when i put my hand in.
the black one and one orange seem to be the pair and they waggle on a piece of live rock and have been for some time. (months) no eggs yet tho.
so a question i was thinking about was as far as coral placement in the tank high vs low.
In 9 or 10 inches of water is it going to make that much difference?
Depends on light wattage and type of coral. I keep mine around the middle our higher but my tank is 24” tall. I could get away with the for since I have metal halides though but I don't run them for very long compared to my PC bulbs.
so when i was cleaning my tank i took out the pump on my protien skimmer and cleaned it. WOW is an understatment.
Like full speed ahead. night and day flow difference.
What im really looking to do now is to make a sump refigum type deal. I have a 18 gallon bio cube type tank.
I was thinking about this so i can relocate my protein skimmer and add some mechanical filtration. Not sure the best way to go about it. I have seen a few diy sumps but my "stand" isn't exactly typical.
