Darn, wish I had my saltwater tank set up already... where'd you find them out of curiosity? I went scooping sargassum Saturday myself, only found a few of the yellow shrimp.

Will these guy eventually end up chowing down on any blennies or gobies I might put with them?

Best luck at the west end of the seawall. Scoop weeds up from below, so fish can't swim out from bottom. I'm afraid my big one ate the last two. He doesn't eat gobies or blennies, as they stay near the bottom.
Oh, I found a good sargassum mimic at gardenridge.

freakin cool fish. I have always had a special place for these guys in my heart. the shrimp is cool too. shame that the alge wont do well in a tank. i bet it likes aggitation as well as super high light.

Can you take a picture of the sargassum mimic? the stuff I am looking at is kinda pricey, so something cheap and durable would be nice.

It's mostly just the high light thing. Just think about it. Coral require super intense lighting, but they are up to 50 meters down and still considered "primarily photosynthetic". Sargassum floats on the surface and is exposed to air. Imagine how intense that light is. Replicating that in a home is next to impossible.

Not the best photos, as my sister-in-law has my slr. For $5.00 it beat anything else I found in Houston fish stores.
