the main problem with non-photo corals is the feeding... most can be sustained but to really flourish multiple feedings is needed and along with that filtration needs to be on set.

Duncans are nice too, gorgs usually are harder to keep alive since they are pretty sensitive to change IME.

Theres also the black sun coral which are cool.

Long term I'd seriously consider feeding more than just brine shrimp. There's not a whole lot of nutritional value in brine.

Really are you sure you dont have that mixed with bloodworms? I know people that they almost only feed their fish with brine and a few other things.

I recommend everyone do their own research as far as feeding goes as opposed to taking my word or anyone elses, but even though a lot of things can live on brine shrimp it's not the best nutritionally. Mysis shrimp are better, but are also a lot more expensive. I believe as with most things variety is the best option.

I'm sure you can find articles and information about it on reefcentral, marshreef, marine depot and elsewhere. Do some research and make up your own mind.

IMO a lot of people pick brine because it's easy and relatively cheap.

i have feed mysis in the past but i dont prefer them because of their size.

the frozen brine are just as cheap $$$ as frozen mysis.

Brine is cheaper than mysis, which is why a lot of folks use it.

in my opinion non photosynthetic corals are not worth having in a "beginner or lazy" reef tank. You might as well have them in a predator reef tank if your doing all those water changes trying to keep the tank clean of all the food debris. I just got a ton of frozen mysis, carnivore diet, and brine for buy 1 get one free. It was at a fish store in woodlands who i hate and went in there just to see there dying fish, but they had a sweet deal on food. Just so every one knows i despise fish r us and blue reef.

homemade foods is a good route which worked well for me.... there's also options like Rod's Foods which I thought was a spectacular ready made frozen food.
