    • You may want to look again per SEC filings. Form 4 is a required filing for insiders that reports transactions and current balance beneficially owned as of 8/15/2010 K.R. Murdoch owned 14,540 shares of News Corp.

      • The Murdoch Family Trust owns the lions share of the company. So without knowing the rules of the trust to make an assumption that K.R. Murdoch owns those shares is unsubstantiated. There is a trustee that oversees the actions of the trust.

If I'm correct (I need to go digging for the article where I read it) he does have voting control of these shares.

            • Here you go Mark and SAB. An offer of 25% profit answers the question of what is being offered and 5 blocks answers the question of how far is acceptable.

Donald Trump Offers Cash to Buy Controversial Park 51/ Cordoba Mosque Building

One of New York City's most famous residents, Donald Trump, has just jumped into the fray over the proposed mosque that may be built two blocks away from ground zero.

Donald Trump wants to bring calm to the city and the world by ending the controversy over the proposed Park 51/ Cordoba mosque.

Donald Trump has made a cash offer to buy the controversial Burlington Coat Factory building that would be the site of a controversial proposed mosque. The New York Post reports that Donald Trump wrote a letter to explain he wants the building "as a resident of New York and a citizen of the United States, not because I think the location is a spectacular one...but because it will end a very serious, inflammatory and highly divisive situation that is destined, in my opinion, to only get worse." Many questions remain about this possible mosque project. Some people question why a site so close to ground zero was chosen. Other people wonder who is funding the $100 million project to build Park 51. Are those

providing the finances for this project in America or from the Middle East? Others do not care at all where the money comes from. Some family members of people who died on 9/11 support the project and others are very upset by it.

              Religious Freedom in America

Religious freedom is a very important part of American society. It is a cherished part of our nation. And Americans take full advantage of it. Some people change their religion over the course of a lifetime. Other people always eschew religion or chose to leave organized religion at some point. All options are available for a religious or nonreligious life. That is a beautiful thing.

              Too Much Drama

One thing is certain, there is too much drama going on as the sad anniversary of 9/11 approaches. Let's hope America can quickly regain the solemn dignity the victims and the families of the people who lost a loved one that day deserve.

Has Donald Trump Offered Enough Cash?

Trump has made an offer worth over $6 million in cash for the deal. He proposed paying what one of the investors, Hisham Elzanaty, first paid for the property and lease right with an added 25 percent bonus. The property investors have multiple offers and are mulling over their options.

Elzanaty recently announced he would like $18 million to $20 million for his stake in the property. The final decision on any possible sale may rest with Soho Properties and the full team of eight investors.

              The Deal Has One Condition

Trump has placed on condition on the deal he offered. He wants the proposed mosque to be built at least 5 more blocks away from ground zero than the current site proposed for the Park 51 mosque. He may have to pony up a lot more cash if he wants to close this deal. The owner already has offers that are much higher than what Trump has offered, notes the NY Post.

What Would Donald Trump Do with the Property?

There is no indication yet what Donald Trump would do with the building if he is able to purchase it. Will it be a residential property for building condos or will it be used as a commercial business site?

Is Trump doing a good deed for the city of NYC or is this a publicity ploy? Trump is fond of the spotlight. However, he is a true New Yorker and is probably concerned about the potential for chaos over the mosque issue.
All men are created equal but his choices determine his value and what's in his heart determines his worth.

              • Five blocks is acceptable because His Trumpness says it is? Have the families of victims elected him spokesman for them? meh
Personally, I hope he buys it and uses it for another reality TV show. That'll distract 'em until the next sensation comes along.

Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? I think it's a publicity stunt. He intentionally makes a low ball offer (the article states that higher offers were already made by others.), then gets to cry foul when the offer isn't taken.

                  • Its not a low ball offer if its 25% more then what they paid for it only a year ago. Besides the investor said if given 18M for it he would and it over no problem. So clearly he hasnt gotten that offer and there is no telling what offers he has gotten. He might be saying it to try to get others to bid higher.

I meant low balled compared to what the owner has already been offered.

You do know who Donald Trump is right? Yes, you do. Publicity is the last thing Trump needs. He IS publicity.

As for the other offers, people can SAY anything. Trump put his offer in writing and a 25% return on investment in a year in this market on a property that hasn't been touched is very good.

Are you kidding me? Trump THRIVES on Publicity. Publicity is the ambrosia of ANY person who makes their livelyhood in the public eye.

At least he put his money where his mouth is, made an offer in writing and was willing to put in writing what he believes is an appropriate distance for the mosque. He is taking action and is doing so with his own cash money, not tax dollars. That is more than most do these days.

The article said that the developer claimed to have other offers. surely you have at least some basic understanding of business dealings. You've sold something, anything before haven't you?
