Fake picture?

This is a picture used to link from the MSN homepage to a story on MSNBC found here:

I'm not saying it's for sure a fake...I'm just wondering how an otherwise pristine dead fish got on top of what appears to be very thick oil. Here's the pic:

I've seen quite a few dead fish in my time...something doesn't seem quite right. But it is MSNBC...so I'm not sure truth and/or accuracy are real important. What does everyone think?

I saw that pic last night....and I too, had thought it odd, that the fish looked so clean yet is sitting upon all that oil......??

I know fish have a slime coat that covers their body, but in that kind of contamination, you would think that slime coat would be affected as well...???

Not so much fake, but rather staged. It looks like someone threw the (probably dead) fish in the water and the oil was so thick it didn't penetrate the layer. Looking at the oil it looks to be a very small fish.

I vote staged! Nature is not that clean and cut. It looks as if the oil discriminated against the fish! sunrise

Has to be staged look at the density of the oil it is resting on. I understand the media has an agenda and it leans left, but who do feel they have to persuade here? Do they believe there are actually Bp supporters out there?

Funny you say that, because at the end of the day, and as disgusted as I am with the whole mess, I still don't find myself mad at only B.P.

This photo reminded me of other staged/doctored photos I had seen. It is not about the oil spill but does shed some light on the media's biases.

I think it looks staged as well, but either way, its a disgustion shame whats happening to the animals with this oil spill.
