  • Has the expirement in Europe taught us anything?

I hope that the people behind the Amero and other such plans have taken notice that a shared currency does not work. The financial troubles in the EU have taught us that if the body hosting the currency cannot control what its members do with their fiscal policies then a shared currency is doomed. Germans are much like Americans in that they are very prideful people and do not take well to being told what to do. I believe you will soon see Germany break from the Euro because the EU will try to force guidelines on everyone so that another Greece, Portugal, and Spain doesnt happen again. And without Germany the EU will not function as they are the largest economy in the group. But sadly I believe that the powers at be here will not learn this lesson and will tell everyone they know the solution. Much the same way Obama is trying to convince everyone that he has figured out how to make Socialism work when we have seen after decades of the Socialist experiment in Europe that it doesn't and it is bankrupting those nations. When will we ever learn from our past?

Central banks around the world joined the coordinated effort to prop up the euro and prevent Europe's debt crisis from derailing the global economic recovery. The U.S. Federal Reserve reopened a currency "swap" program to ship billions of U.S. dollars overseas in a bid to pump more short-term cash into the financial system and ensure banks have the dollars they need. Separately, the ECB jumped into the bond market, saying it is ready to buy debt from the eurozone — EU nations that use the euro — to shore up liquidity in "dysfunctional" markets.

This was just cut and pasted from an article on fox news....Guess the answer is NO...we have not learned anything ....

Socialism and Marxism has been tried in the US in small groups called cults or families. For example Jim Jones Peoples Temple, Eco-communalism, agrarian socialism and Christian socialism the latter three are more European than American. For those that do not remember Jim Jones Peoples Temple, here is a link below:

        CF,

30 billion of the first US bank bailout went to European and foreign banks to shore them up. I guess that was not enough either!

            huh?

Some economist and historian will tell you that the United States of America use to be made up of 13 separate and independent states. Which also had different currencies. And as evident from 300 years of history the common currency in this union work out ok.

I'm really indifferent about it personal.

I just care about the $1 menu at McDonalds.
