Wow they change alot of it up since Allison.  Can you still walk to the darn like before?

Oh no! They have closed off all access to the dam and park. Only way to get there is in a boat. They closed it off after 9/11.

I know there was alot of flood damage to Eisenhower right after Allison. Which was also in 2001. Man, I used to fish for gar and fish from the side  along time ago in Eisenhower.  I see they came in and did some major work. How close can you get to the spill way now?

That may be why they closed it....really not sure. Just heard that it hasn't opened or isn't open due to the ship channel being down stream and the terrorist stuff.

Anyways....I believe that it's the same as it use to be as far as how close. I only went there a few times before all that so I don't too much remember. Here's the best pic I could find that I had.

Yep it change alot.  The fence stuff behind you on the right. Look like they extended the concert wall out farther from the damn. Also boats used to be able to get much closer to the spill way. I need to go out there one day soon.

How far did you have to travel to get there.

There are 2 marina's just down stream of the dam....Good Times Marina is off Garrett Rd. on 7 1/2 St. it's the closest to the dam. Takes about 5 - 10 minutes depending on engine size.  ....Love's Marina is off old 90, a bit further away from the dam, but alot cleaner place. I launch from here most times, unless I'm fishing at night cause he closes at 9pm.

You can still get to the Big Eddy....I've launched my kayak from there a few times and paddled to the dam.
