  • Is it really all about money???

well, i think i've heard everything now....
For some of you i'm sure you don't remember the "Big Bopper"....he was a DJ from Beaumont that made a one hit wonder with a song titled...."Chantilly Lace"......
anywho....his son that was born 3 months after his death in an airplane crash with Buddy Holly.....has really done the ultimate disgrace in my eyes....
It seems that he had his fathers' grave exhumed and moved the body to another location in order to re bury him and errect a statue or something on that order.....anyway.....they took his body out of the casket it had been buried in and now....his son who lives in Katy is "SELLING" his "old" casket.....so i ask....is this morbid or am i just being silly???

Its kinda disgusting and I would be really surprised he would be allowed to sell it after a body has been in it all these years and maybe he is looking for media attention because he is a nobody . BUT he never knew his dad and who knows what his financial situation is-ya know the old desperate people do desperate things--- --------------Besides all those that--Final Answer,Yes its morbid and just wrong.......

          to answer your question no

Here is some snippet from the chronicle

"The Big Bopper’s 16-gauge steel casket was exhumed last year from his original grave at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Beaumont so it could be moved to a more visible location with a life-sized statue and historic marker. The disinterment also offered forensic experts a chance — with his family’s blessing — to examine the pop singer’s unautopsied remains after his death in rock ‘n’ roll’s first great tragedy."

"Jay Richardson, the Bopper’s son, plans to sell the empty casket on eBay to raise money for a musical show about his father and to keep the Bopper’s memory alive. "

I'm less concerned about the son, who may or may not be doing a good thing, than about the person who buys it.

For all we know, it could end up in a Gas Station in Arizona somewhere along highway 66 in a tent, where you can pay 5.00 to lay in it....????

I have told my partner over and over again, when I die cremate me and toss my ashes wherever.  Don't keep me on the mantle and I don't want a memorial for people to visit and get morbid.  I'd rather she and our kids, friends, etc think of the good times.  The thought of being dug up is totally creepy!

+1 on the cremation ....i want my ashes scattered on a lake.....let the fishies eat me.......
no wake, memorial or such.....just a big party with lots of music and laughs....that's what i want....
don't put me in the ground in the dark....i'm scared of the dark......there's monsters in the dark.....

i'm very saddened that they even moved him at all.....why not just erect a statue in the place they originally put him...
don't quite understand that.....and then to let scientist mull over the remains for "science" sake....geesh....what could there have been left to look at that they couldn't find on a cadaver in the morgue.....millions of people donate their bodies to science just for that purpose.....i think it's all about "publicity"....he's a nobody and he wanted everyone to see him.....

well....here's an update on this story....
as i was coming to work this morning "THE ARROW" had JP Richardson's son on the air to clear up this internet scandle...
he said that he had his father "BIG BOPPER" and his mothers' burial sites moved to another part of the Forest Lawn Cemetary in Beaumont in order to errect a full sized statue of his father on the site. His body was placed in another "Tomb"/"Casket" and he ended up with his father's original now......His hope for it is that a museum will contact him and want to place it in there, of course Dean and Rog suggested that he place it in the "Hard Rock Cafe" behind the bar next to Elton Johns' jacket....(ha ha)....but the son replied that it was at this time "in my front yard being used as a planter come by and take a look".....(not funny).....so he denies that he's trying to sell it on Ebay...or that he's wanting to create a "One hit wonder show" for his dad.....

                              and so the saga continues........

but i can say this much.....he sounds just like his father as far as his voice is concerned......he should go into show biz i say and come out of the casket on stage as "Reserected Bopper"......or maybe dressed as one of those "Baby Bop" characters....either way i think it's morbid that he kept the thing in the first place.....he shoud've just let the cemetary people dispose of it properly or donate it to a family that can't afford one maybe.....

                              :?
