You are right and it is just not those in power... it is at least 50% percent of those who vote for the candidates. Both Reps and Dems! To be honest with all of you... No matter what these two men who are running for office are, they do not have total power to do anything other than go to war, veto a bill and elect those in the Supreme court.

Just because a curse word is deliberately mis-spelled
Don't be too sure on that one!      Seriously though, I agree and there seems to be a history there of doing that. I agree with you though. If you're secure enough in your beliefs and your logic behind them, then you shouldn't have to resort to such measures. I think it's pretty poor behavior.

Hollywood is doing the same thing it has done for years.
Agreed....but that hardly makes it right.

How can you judge someone who did something when you was 8 years old?
Ok...let's follow that logic a bit. I'm pretty sure Hitler did a lot of pretty bad things. I take the liberty to judge him even though neither you nor I were alive at the time. I know you think he's a bad guy too because you compare him to our President fairly regularly. He was never convicted that I'm aware of...but admittedly I've never researched that. But it was years ago....far longer than what Bill Ayres did. I guess you think Robert Byrd, the Senator and member of your own party is a pretty good guy too. He has done so many things for the Democrats over the years. He has apologized, I believed, for his past. So please...let's hear you sing his praises. His transgressions were far longer ago that Ayres' transgressions. I don't think Byrd has ever been convicted of anything. So please...show that you really believe what you said and be consistent and heap the praises on the former Klansman. Or is that a far worse crime in your eyes than domestic terrorism.

        Re: Barack Hussein Obama

I think discussions about politics should remain open discussions where there is an open exchange of ideas.  Too often everyone is already set in their ideas and refuses to listen to the other side except to know where to place their next attack.  That's why most people refuse to discuss politics and religion.

No one is interested in an open exchange of ideas, the teams are already set and its all about the argument that leads to more arguments which persuades no one and further entrenches preconceived notions.

So just call this a political fight and let the mud fly.  Get 'em!

How can you judge someone based on something happen 35+ years ago? I not God so I cannot judge anyone. I wonder if some members here exposed post their life story we would treat them the same.

In 1997, he told an interviewer he would encourage young people to become involved in politics, but to "Be sure you avoid the Ku Klux Klan. Don't get that albatross around your neck. Once you've made that mistake, you inhibit your operations in the political arena." In his latest autobiography, Byrd explained that he was a member because he "was sorely afflicted with tunnel vision—a jejune and immature outlook—seeing only what I wanted to see because I thought the Klan could provide an outlet for my talents and ambitions." Byrd also said, in 2005,

I know now I was wrong. Intolerance had no place in America. I apologized a thousand times... and I don't mind apologizing over and over again. I can't erase what happened.

Yes, was he wrong for what he did as a kid? It depends on the public eye. I cannot judge him for something he choose to do eons ago.

Ten Us Presidents never wore a military uniform...Clinton,FDR, Hoover, Coolidge, Wilson and Taft to name a few.

In 2001, Ayers told the Sun-Times he regretted that "people were hurt, that three of my dear friends were killed, that we were stupid, immature, intolerant and unwise. I regret that I hurt people's feelings. But the New York Times took his story and twisted it.

And to answer your other questions.

We are falling in education, government, and being respected. Why is that? No Child Left Behind.

What happened to the time that everyone looked up to the United States? The world looked up to the United States up until we felt Iraq was a country to take over.

My OPINION is that we took our minds off of the ball and worried about things that mattered less. China, Russia, and others saw this opportunity and took it.  What things that mattered less?

As for as approval rating based only on Illinos..............72% but we are talking what double to triple the population of Alaska?

And since people want to nick pick I will make this my last post.

People can post pictures to no objections...but a word?

            Re: Barack Hussein Obama

When we judge someone on what happened many years ago, we call it history. We're supposed to learn from it. It's quite a shame that we haven't. Another man in history won on a platform of change targeted to the youth of his country...his name was Adolf Hitler.

What we are talking about here is a choice to make an association that Obama has made in his adult life. Whether it is a choice to asociate with Bill Ayres, Jeremiah Wright, or any of the other blantantly anti-American figures that Obama has chosen to associate himself with...what matters is that he made the choice to associate with those people. That choice should be, given the nature of the people in question, public knowledge so that the American people can see that choice and know that those were associations made with the full knowledge of who those people are and what views they hold and the history behind them. I cannot, and I am hoping that America has not so degenerated so that it cannot, elect a person to the highest office of the land with the knowledge that the candidate in question doesn't seem to be put off or offended by domestic terrorism...doesn't seem to be offended by racism and hate mongering...doesn't seem to hold the ideals that most Americans hold in high esteem with the same fervor and judgment that the rest of us do. If Obama is elected I feel that we will have someone in office who does not hold this country in the same high esteem that our predecessors have...and that is very troubling.

marauder_77868... Very Well Said!!! :musik:  :bsty:

I will say that delock does have a right to his say but he has to remember that the President of the United States needs to run our country not only like a busniess but like a family. He needs to know when to give in and when to handle the situation with a strong hand! The problem with the United States is that the government is now used to eating at a buffet (With the FINEST wines) on a blank check instead of eating a well balamce meal on a slim budget like MOST American middle class families.

                  Re: Barack Hussein Obama

The thing that I find funny is that less than 6 years ago all Dems said McCain was a maverick and that he was a good republican for sticking up for what he believes and that he wasnt following Bush. Now McCain is all of the sudden Bush term 3 but his voting has not changed he has virtually been the same person. I am a republican but not a lock step one. When McCain Bush ran against each other I was torn on which to vote for because I am not a total conservative and the Dems loved him. Now that he is running is changed. Funny. And the Ayers and other people issue. They may have done it when he was young but you are defined by the companions you keep. Just a year or two ago Ayers made the comment that Reef stated and yet Obama doesnt distance himself from this man. He has always thought he should have injured more and done more it isnt a new thought. Obama scares the heck out of me because no one really knows this man. He has not voting record really, he has very questionable friends, He may or may not be covering up is birth records, He may or may not be a sympathizer of a terrorism by way of his actions that we do have and friends, and finally from everything that I can find he would like to have a socialist system in America.

I really can't say too much that is positive about either remaining canidate. In my opinion, they both fall way short of the best man for the job, who is RON PAUL. At least I was fairly familar with John McCain before the primaries got under way, which is a lot more than I can say for Obama.

If I can't "write in" RON PAUL, then I will vote for McCain, reluntantly, and God Help us all.

I don't think there are too many people too excited about McCain. I don't think he's really a conservative, with the possible exception of foreign policy. I just think that, given the two choices, I would rather vote for someone who is at least a little conservative rather than a Socialist.
