I'm fed up with ABC 13 offering nothing but please for humanity and making the situation worse.  "Shut up!" I say and help people by giving them information they need.  Now is a time of action not looking for a security blanket.

i hate the fact they were making fun of the MREs that at less 40%+  people has to eat, 'IT LOOKS LIKE DOG FOOD, AND SO DOES EVERYTHING ELSE'  then they just toss it in the trash/onto the side

To add to this.  Last night driving home from work (yes I got called in) I was listing to 96.5 and a commercial comes on.

Last month Hurricane Gustav hit LA and MS and people are there right now desperate for your assistance.   Please give what ever you can to the Red Cross because people are homeless, without the basic needs like water, electricity etc... please come together and donate for hurricane Gustav victims..

I am thinking to myself.. and what about asking people locally to assist those locally first ?

Another thing that bothered me, was everytime they did the news conferences and the speaker would speak spanish, they always cut back to the newsroom to talk about other stupid ****.

I know its America and its Texas, but about 45% of Texas is Hispanic and about 1/3 of those dont speak English.  They need to know whats going on too, they need to know where to get help, and the information needed.  I just hope the Spanish Radio stations were getting the info out to them.

REal shame, in my opinion.

I agree, they should be thankful. for god sake, its disaster relief MRE's! what you expect!? we sure have lots of spoilt ppl here in the US.

I know I am part jackass, most times, and I got power yesturday back, so I shoudl not be posting **** like this.

But it amazes me how many people did not go and get 4-5 days worth of food and water, they been predicting this thing to hit for almost a week.

I can understand ICE, but food?  I can live on crackers and cheezwiz for a week if I had to.

This is the best weather since like April.

I prayed for power for my fishes and being able to find Batteries.  I got all that.

This weather is maybee some redemption..

yeah. it is pretty nice out there now.
I have zero loss on fish and still have extra batteries. but I only have 1 tank stocked right now.
I can't imagine how u managed all those tanks man !

Well my job was a FEMA drop site. I didnt find out until I pulled up to work that we were a site. Anyway, I felt bad to see folks from all walks of life trying to get foo, ice and water. We were the last site to close tonight...thus the reason I got pulled over tonight.

I kept all my fish alive with Marine Deep Cell Batteries and 12V powerheads in each tank.

Derek, your an awesome man.  If it were not for my work, making me be here, I'd volunteer if I could.

Funny thing, a neighbor and I were the only ones in my apartment complext picking up and people were looking at us like we were crazy.  One of them even told me we should just leave it, the grounds crews will clean it up during the week.

All I could think of was what a a-hole.  There's hundreds if not thousands of people working and cleaning up **** that aint theirs.

I hope I was not wrong to think that...

i personaly likes the MRE, specily the roast beef, all the veggi ones and the teriyaki ones...  as long as you can burn off the cal. that it gives you, its really healthy, it will clean up a lot of the bad stuff in your body, at less thats what a few of my army buddies told me...

I loved the comment one women said. I dont remember what channel it was but the were in La Marque or one of those cities interviewing people at the gas station and she said they need to let us back on the island. If they need to let us on one at a time fine if the causeway falls down thats fine they just need to let us back to the island. I was like what are you serious. I mean I may not fully understand what some people are feeling since I fortunately did not have this happen directly to me but I would hope that I would never make a ridiculous comment like that.
