Just wondering what everyone thinks about the idea. I don't think they should ban it. People kill people not guns should they ban certain vehicles cause of drunk drivers? Same concept

I hate the term assualt weapon. What is an assault weapon? A bat is an assault weapon if it is used to assault someone. I am on the fence on this but I believe that any arm the government posses we as citizens should be allowed to posses. Should certain of them require background checks or classes, fine. But to say that the govt can posses weapons that we can't opens the door to allow complete control of its citizens.

Would like to point out that regardless of any ban, criminals have not gotten that notice.

you can buy a semi auto version of a kalashnikov but not a true ak47. true assualt rifles are automatic and have been banned for a long time

Assault guns are fully automatic. Those are already banned and what you (johnnymisty) are referring to is the semi automatic guns.

Only thing available now to the citizens are semi-auto replicas of assualt rifles.

Either pay tens of thousands of dollars and jump through the hoops to acquire the proper documentations to own one or go down the street to thug dealer and pay maybe a few thousands.
