Ok, so this is a bit of a rant.

I see 240G on CL for sale $300, send 2 emails no answer, third email and
get a reply. Chat via TXT, speak to guy on phone arrange to meet.
I get to his house and there is another guy there??? Awkward...

Seller says, "oh sorry, did not think you would both be here at same time"?
So "who is interested he says" i almost lost it there, i mean i would not have spent
my time driving up there if i was not interested F%$#Head... :furious:

So i do the right thing, since the other guy beat me by literally 2 minutes i said well
he has first choice. Of course the guy takes it (Not his fault the seller is a *****).
Damn i'm not often predisposed to violence but i was pissed, not so much for losing the Tank
but for the seller not telling me, "hey there's another guy coming, ill let you know"...
Although i'm sure i contacted him first.

The decent thing to do is give the buyer a chance to show up before having 3 buyers all
showing up together, creating a bad situation.

I agree there.....seller should have said something in regards to u having made first contact scheduling a sale. Sellers like that SUCK !

Sounds like a shady deal to me. Perhaps he had hopes of you two to getting into a bidding war over it?

I do a lot of sales on craigslist. IMO. the guy should not have had both coming to look. But more times then not you will have no shows. Not inclueding Cash flash lowballers.
Not every body is a good person.

I agree with this statement ive sold alot of things on CL sometimes people say "i be there in 30 mins" and they never come while other ppl do come through with no BS. But the seller is wrong for not telling you that he had someone else coming. I recently scored a hell of a deal on a tank on CL and i made sure i got there early enough before anyone else i ended up with a nice 125gal for 70 bucks. I guess you lose some and win some

True ,but three emails , a call spoken to the seller, how can that not show someone "hey a..hole im interested"

Yeah i agree that there are frequent no shows, iv'e sold quite a lot on CL recently and to quite a few FB's.
If someone tells me they are coming and will be there at XYZ time i will wait for them.
If they call back to say they are running late that's fine too, but if they cancel or are a no show i will let them know i'm moving on to the next guy. I've never had 2 people arrive for the same item.

Maybe he was hoping for a bidding war?
It's just his attitude sucked about the whole thing, instead of being apologetic even embarrassed,
he came across as a smug, unprincipled Ahole...

The other guy was with his wife and i could see she wanted it real bad (Asian couple, really nice),
i could also tell they felt very uncomfortable with the whole situation.
Anyway, they came down from Conroe and were literally walking up the drive when i got there, my drive was only 20 minutes so i did what i think was the right thing and gave them first choice.
I did wonder though what would have happened if i caused a scene?

It was a really nice tank though, 8'x2'x2' superb condition with original tops, power-heads etc...

I sell alot of stuff on Craigslist and in the beginning, I would hold stuff or tell people that someone is interested and on their way to look at it. However, with all the no shows and low ballers once they come to see it, I am now first come first serve basis. It doesn't matter if you were were the first to be interested or the last, if you show up first with cash in hand, its your's. And the person that came 1 minute after, well they should have been 1 minute earlier.

Now, when I sell stuff on here or if someone I know asks me to hold it, I will do so since 1: I know them, or 2: I trust they will be good on their word and come by to buy it. Otherwise, its also first come first serve.

+1 to what hangman is saying. After so many flakes and lowballers on CL, I've been selling as first come first serve. As for on here, I'll hold for most people unless they've flaked before.

+1 when you sold me that fx5 my wife got it from you and it was great you took the time to call me and explain everything in the box to me.... And i agree with cl there are alot if lowballers and flakes however i still expect someone to tell me they have more than one person on the way so u dont waste my gas and time
