  • MD Anderson Toy Drive tomorrow @ Coffee & Cars

Some of you have been to Coffee & Cars and the next one is tomorrow morning. What you don't know is for the last 3 years, Shawn & I have been a part of the MD Anderson Toy Drive hosted by HPD, Houston Performance Driving. This year is no different.

    Toy Drive Information for Tomorrow:

    - Where: Houston Coffee & Cars in Vintage Park
    - When: Saturday December 1st, 2012 from 7am to 11am
    - Who: Everyone!
    - Why: Toys for MD Anderson!
    - What: A new, unwrapped toy for a girl or boy 3 & up
    - Address: 110 Vintage Park Blvd Houston, TX 77070-4048
    - Questions: Ask!

MD Anderson t-shirts will also be on sale for $20 each so bring some cash! Help support these kids in their time of need. Put the shoe on the other foot & realize that if your child was going through this, you would be ever so thankful for the kindness of complete strangers.

Amidst it all there is still good in this world, especially in Texas. Come on out & help us show them just how much. Shawn & I are honored to be a part of this & we hope to see you there.

A note from Jorge Verdejo, the organizer for Coffee & Cars:

Cancer is a universal disease that attacks all forms of human life. With your support, we can help kids at MD Anderson Cancer Center have a wonderful Christmas. Also benefiting will be the Harris and Montgomery County Women's Shelters.
With the generosity from the people that visit Houston Coffee & Cars and Houston Performance Driving, we believe that this toy drive will be the largest in all of the Houston Area.
We ask you to support this endeavor!
    Where: Vintage Park.

    When: Saturday, December 1st, 2012

    Who: Everyone!

    Time: 7AM to 11AM

Why: Toys for children at MD Anderson Children's Cancer Center!

    Address:
    110 Vintage Park Blvd.

    Hello everyone,

Tis the season (to see an incredibly diverse number of astounding cars)! For those of you who didn't make it out last month, we not only filled the front parking lots and the internal streets but also a large part of the back of the property!
If you are getting this reminder for the first time, please take a moment to read over our Rules Of Engagement . These are the Do's and Don't's that allow us continue to have a gathering which is both fun, and safe, and family friendly while protecting our host's property.
As always CONVENTIONAL PARKING RULES APPLY at this venue and we've empowered the HPD officers to take any measure necessary to not only keep our gathering safe, but to keep the management of Vintage Park happy, and of course to comply with the law. No burnouts. Period (not even on Louetta, not even getting on 249).
As before, please patronize the open shops and stores at Vintage Park. These places make it possible for us to gather there. Be mindful and courteous of store customers needing to park. We ask that for those who need to use the the tenant's "facilities", please be considerate and purchase something. We will have donation boxes out which helps to defray the cost of security and supplies. If you enjoy our gathering, please contribute whatever you feel appropriate since this is the only way we can continue to offer a free, public, non-commercial opportunity to see many amazing machines.
This month is our annual toy drive for kids receiving treatment at MD Anderson this season who are having a tough time of it. Bring a sealed toy for those less fortunate and drop it off at the collection area near the arches.
Thanks and see you Saturday morning,
    Jorge Verdejo

OH! Almost forgot. My friend, Cookie, is managing the Barney's Billiards on Sawdust tonight. He is taking a collection there as well of cash & toys so if you're in that area before 2am you can drop off to him & he will get it to the Toy Drive in the morning.

We filled 3 cargo vans & an F250 full of toys & sold around $1000 in t-shirts. Exact numbers not in yet. All $$ collected will be used to buy even more toys! Thanks for your support. Truly appreciated.

The girls at Barney's were inspired to do something on their own, as well, after taking up donations last night. So, as soon as I have more information on that I will post it up.

No matter where you give, how much or what amount, it's always good to give. You never know when you may be in the same position nor how much one simple act of kindness can mean to someone in need. As always the people of HFB are awesome. Thank you.
