  • Am I Wrong For Thinking Fair?

I bought some cylinder heads for $275 from a guy online and they came in damage. I filed a claim with fedex and the shipper wanted me to put I paid $1500(he told me he would give me half) which I didnt agree on because I wasn't going to scam fedex. Been going through 2 weeks of BS with fedex and they are now sending payment to shipper. Shipper talk with them and told them the replacememt cost was much more, so they are giving an extra $600. They labeled it as "goodwill". His message to me was after he paid me, he has $600. And he told me "thanks!". Which I just laughed at to myself. Im not going to make a big deal about it to him, but I think I should get at least half of the $600. I'm mostly mad that hes getting money from MY damaged heads. Fedex wasted MY time and money(since I went ahead and bought new), as they want to label it as "goodwill". What do yall think about the situation? Am I just thinking greedy(which i'm not trying to)?

Seems to me that it was in the original plan and it looks like y'all both won. Seems like you had no choice but to cooperate. If you would've reported him, you probably wouldn't have gotten any money back.

So you got your money back and you have a set of damaged heads? Sell for scrap and get more money since you missed out on splitting the insurance claim with the seller.

It stinks that your forced into a situation that puts you at odds with your values. To top it off the scam artist is getting the better end of the deal. I don't know what I would have done. Not fair at all. Like you said you are still at a lost of your time and effort. Sounds like this guy has done this before.

When I hear crap like that, I just have the strong urge to headbutt someone between their eyes! Fair was not fair. Unfortunatly, you can't do much about it, without screwing yourself over.

I know how you feel with this. My ethics and morals have been tested at times. I've found thousands of dollars over years, countless iPhones, purses, wallets, etc, working at Reliant Stadium in the guest services. 9 times out of 10, people never came back to get them, but I turned everything I ever found in to lost and found. All they did was donate to charity if after a certain time, the owner never came to claim it. Feels good to do what's right though. Lol.

It being a scam was what I thought. I'm happy just getting my money back, i'm just mad he's profiting off of my troubles. I even sent fedex a paypal receipt when I filed a claim. I take "goodwill" payment as the troubles that I went through. I dealt with fedex most of the time. As for the damaged heads, they were sent back to the shipper. They were suppose to come to me after they inspected them, but the #@&$@$& fedex driver took it off his truck and told them it was suppose to go back to the shipper since he picked it up from me.

This morning a cashier didnt charge me for an item. I corrected her because it wasnt right to just walk out the door unpaid. it was only $1.50 lol

Now that you have your money back, you can report the incedent and various emails detailing his ruse. It would likely not result in any issue with you, but for the shipper I can imagine there being some troubles ahead. Just explain what occured and your position clearly and I think they will appreciate your honesty.

I'd rather not put myself in that position. For his good, hopefully he doesn't believe in karma. I do.

What goes around, comes around. Don't worry. Some people have a way to beat the system. FedEx isn't losing on this one. Stores like Academy have a $250k merchandise insurance per day. I'm sure FedEx has a greater policy. Lol.
